Re: omg: Sehwag is back again
By selecting Sehwag, the Indian selectors have once again proved that: a) Performance doesn't matter b) There are different rules for different players c) For some bizarre reasons some players deserve endless chances, while others barely get a chance to prove themselves d) Being a team player isn't really smart d) Despite one of the Chappell brother's disastrous tenure as a coach, we continue to listen to them and not use our own minds and brains Nothing much has changed since Mohinder Amarnath called them a bunch of jokers. Tough to be an Indian cricket fan as ever.
Very true! Ranadeb Bose was one of the pacers who travelled to South Africa, although he did well bagging a fifer in the tour game, and he never got a chance to feature in playing 11.
Now that most of the 'Frontline fast bowlers' are injured, his name wasn't even discussed while the team for australia was picked.

Re: omg: Sehwag is back again
Like Ranadeb BOse, BCCI has produced a lot of travellers.
My team composition will be like this as Sehwag is being taken there,
Jaffer
Sehwag
Dravid
Sachin
Ganguly
Laxman
Dhoni
Kumble
Pathan
Zaheer
Ishant / Praveen / R P
Sadly Yuvraj misses out, if he is to be accomodated then eiher Dravid or Sachin should be droppe, selectors are you listening?
It will be sad for bhajji, but he will have to sit out and sehwag can play role of Part time offie.
But at MCG and SCG it will be bhajji who will be in team so either we have one more traveller or Dravid who becomes demolished Wall.
PS another thought : If Dhoni doesnot find the full fitness by Boxing Day Dravid dones the gloves and pads behind the stumps and saves his face from disgrace , and my intuition says this can be a masterstroke of Indian Think tank.

Re: omg: Sehwag is back again
I think however hard that seems, if present performance is the criteria, dravid gets the boot in first test.
However the good thing is that there is no sane criteria in BCCI I stand by mmy team. I don't see sehwag getting a game.
(or maybe he might, i can't say how kumble thinks. Either way dravid is playing the first test. )

Re: omg: Sehwag is back again
Come on guys, how can you even think about dropping dravid He got the all important starts in the recently concluded test series, remember not even once did we get a good start by the openers. Dravid did well to see off the new ball everytime, its was a pity that he didn't pile on as many runs. Even if you see his recent performances in Ranji matches, he has got a double hundred and a hundred in the two test matches he played after he was 'rested' for the ODI series.
Anyways kumble has immense faith in Rahul's capabilities, and I don't see him fielding his team without dravid in the playing 11.
And if sehwag was selected in the team for his past performaces, then remember Dravid single handedly won us a test match last time india toured australia.

Re: omg: Sehwag is back again
ninja and agnel you got the essence of the post wrong.
i dont suggest dropping dravid.
but if the yardsticks which BCCI has employed in recent past he is the one who does not fit the bill. thats why i thought about drvid as WK.
anyways i have given my team i will pick RP ahead of Ishant and Pankaj.

ven if you see his recent performances in Ranji matches, he has got a double hundred and a hundred in the two test matches he played after he was 'rested' for the ODI series.
the only problem is that Gambhir and Raina both scored a double century in the same Ranji tournaments and arguably against better bowling sides

Re: omg: Sehwag is back again
You just wait and watch, I have no doubt in my mind that Rahul and Sachin will be the most prolific scorers in the tournament.
