Trust BCCI to screw anything big time.
At the biggest stage of them all and scenes never ever witnessed in Mumbai ever, politicians have ruined it all.

In the front row:
Mahender singh Dhoni at middle,
flanked by Niranjan Shah and Sharad Pawar. People making the front row, RR patil(NCP deputy CM maharashtra), Rajiv Shukla, IS Bindra, Lalit Modi, Dilip Vengsarkar, Rajput(manager, coach) among the rest of BCCI board members.
The Indian team sits in the second and the third row. 
You would have to ask what was this show organized for? The BCCI or the players?
But no if that was not enough, Mr Sharad Pawar starts the proceeding by a speech, nothing wrong with a welcome speech only it ended up in Marathi. You would think this is the "Indian event" not a Mumbai or Maharashtra event. When there is a record audience watching and even more on the streets, an even that is about India, is this the occasion to say Jai Maharashtra?
Next to speak RR Patil. Surprise surprise he doesn't even bother to speak in english or hindi, he speaks only in Marathi.
He addresses Sharad Pawar first and ends up giving all credit of the victory to Sharad pawar. There were few mentions of the Indian team in his whole speech. You would have thought Sharad Pawar was the one man Indian team that had won the world cup.
Dhoni gave a good slap on the faces of the politicians when he said no marathi no english, he will speak in hindi, the national language. 
While news channels are going overdrive calling it "Besharmi kee had kar dee BCCI ne" its hardly besharmi, this is a
foolish attempt by NCP to take some millage out of a ceremony that should be about just the Indian team. Crowd is cheering Dhoni Dhoni but there is Dhoni to be seen alright, but the rest of team cannot be even seen on Dais as they have been sitting smugly at the back as the cronies jostle for the camera shots as Dhoni holds the cup.
And why was there no one invited from the 1983 winning team apart from vengsarkar? (him maybe cos he is the chief selector and had to be there)
May i ask isn't this the same bunch of people who when the Indian cricket team failed to make it to super8's in the ODI world cup, they said they are just officials who have no role to play in selection. They are the administrators who have no role in selection? Today what is their role ? What have they achieved to stand in the front row ahead of the real champions?
Only thing that will ever help Indian cricket is if the politicians are kicked out of the BCCI management.
This show was a total outrage.
