Pollock decides to say goodbye
One of the most outstanding bowlers of the present generation, Shawn Pollock has announced his retirement from International Cricket.
"I'd like to thank Cricket South Africa for allowing me the opportunity of representing my country for the last 12 years," Pollock told a press conference after the day's play. "I thoroughly enjoy the honour and privilege of wearing the Protea badge and take with me some remarkable memories having played against some great players."
"I made the decision at the start of the season that the West Indies series would be my last," he said. "I have been fortunate to be in a team that has had the calibre of players to beat any opposition on any given day. I have made some wonderful friendships and have played against some remarkable characters."
Pollock is 34 years old. He currently stands on 420 Test wickets, the most by a South African, and 387 in ODIs.
"I realise I have been blessed by God," he said, "and feel I have nurtured my talents to the best of my abilities."
Cricinfo - A career of many milestones
Probably the best bowler in the world after Glen McGrath in recent times. It also means that South Africa have lost their best and maybe the only line and length bowler.

I won't say that about Mcgrath too. Remember the NewZealand tour. Mcgrath got smashed all over the park. (That infamous tour where the kiwi's chased 300+ regularly.

Well then Pollock has been doing well also
Its only one off matches he has had bad days. And its not about wickets with Pollock. He just ties up one end like no other bowler, not even McGrath.

Re: Pollock decides to say goodbye
Both Pollock and McGrath were great. McGrath was a better bowler, but pollock made it up with his bat. he provided good all round option along kallis. And also he played his 'cricket in spirit of the game'.
