Re: Sachin Tendulkar - A debate
news channels all over have spread the emotions,
drop or retire sachin, saurav, dravid, kumble
thats a ridiculous point to make.
its not that i am defending the loss of indian team in carribean, but its a sport, you win some you lose some.
you have to look retrospectively at the happenings and what went wrong and what was achieved.
you cant drop off seniors just based on age, if you drop so many together what will happen to team india who will be captain
sehwag ; what a joke,
yuvraj : a consistantly inconsistant performer,
Harbhajan : never been a wicket taker now a days,
Dhoni : we dont need filmestars out there
so where does indian team stand without four pillars of indian cricket.
yes we do need some changes, harsh ones, but with future in mind.
firstly : after two experiments i believe we do not need foreign coaches, but what we need is a person who finds the strong points of players, encourages them and builds aggression.
Secondly ; if top to bottom shaking changes are warranted then next series against the same team who ousted us from tournament and see what heppens without the biggies there. if it clicks then we have found the way if it doesnot then we have to rethink the strategies.
thirdly : we have to build a real captaincy material, i do not see aggression of kapil, or stubbornness of gavaskar in any of the current players.
what next : i am keeping my fingers crossed and watch and enjoy the cricket world cup.

Re: Sachin Tendulkar - A debate
This shows that Indian cricket is not coming of age, and we need a complete transformation, maybe we should look at how to make the game more agressive at the grassroot levels, I think we should have a tournament like PHL(Premier Hockey Leage) in cricket also, where we should allow the foreign players to join. This would certainly help..

Re: Sachin Tendulkar - A debate
doc right on with yuvraj. i didn't wanna say it, but all people wooing for yuvy forget that he is pretty inconsistenet himself. He plays brilliant cricket half season and then series of ducks. Last time before srilanka series, he was playing so horribly(last year) that he was actually all set to be dropped.
I dunno what captaincy would do to him, but i fear he won't be able to take it.

Re: Sachin Tendulkar - A debate
Yuvraj captain!! I donno if it would work. I would rather have dhoni as my captain given he starts performing better. He is aggressive and gels well with the team. But i know this won't happen as it will raise a lot of eyebrows. If yuvraj is made captain then we can certainly expect dada(return favour), bhajji and sehwag in the team, so it will be a same old vicious circle

Re: Sachin Tendulkar - A debate
another change required is in selection system itself.
we must do away with zonal selector system, which brings favouritism.
a new selection committee of only three members and all of them must some past test cricket playing experience.
that might help out a little.

Re: Sachin Tendulkar - A debate
We keep saying harsh decisions. but what would they be?
It would be really hard to fill the void done by the trinity.
The fact is all big matches since 1998, india has lost. The trinity doesn't fire at all.
Like greg chappel says, we need to look into those issue of why india hasn't won any major tournaments since 1995. He also mentioned that if at all india won any tournament, it would have a 3rd team which would be a minnow or Zimbabwe.
I saw 2 pictures of Sachin today. One idiot, uses to spit pan on sachin's face everyday, and another snap where ppl have drawn lipstick and dressed him like a gal. It hurts me a lot to see such a great man being mocked and ridiculed this way. He doesn't deserve this at all. I know this para is off topic but stil....

Re: Sachin Tendulkar - A debate
thats what i am saying for some time.
all the new blood talk is foolishness.
there is no credible replacement and if you go gung ho and do the replacement, then India will start to lose. Remember this, the match we lost in Bangladesh ODI was one where we played the young guns and then we had to bring back the pros to win the series(this is 2 years back)
The present walk is plain bullshit.

Re: Sachin Tendulkar - A debate
If the selection committee sticks with the current team, i think for the first time ppl will burn effigies again and will demand dropping a few players.

Re: Sachin Tendulkar - A debate
yep if they drop off some players something like this might happen - our team will not perform well and this will go on for some months . and then they will be picked again! so the point is to make really hard decisions and no looking back!
