South Africa withdraws from ICC Championship in Pakistan

The news is out at last South Africa is the first country to pull the trigger on future of Champions Trophy in Pakistan.

They have decided to withdraw from tournament citing players safety concerns.

Its only time when Australia and England will also do the same.

In the opposite end India has strongly backed Pakistan at the moment and they also expect SriLanka to support. Most likely because of support of bigger countried Bangladesh and Zimbabwe will support Pakistan.

This does not augur well for ICC and Cricket in general. As what i see and what pundits also call is a vertical Split in the cricket world.

Alternate arrangement have been made in Srilanka and they are ready to host at the last moment.

Most disastrous move for ICC would be suit from broadcasters ESPN-STAR, as per the original agreement they need 90 days notice to relocate to another location.

With their opposition to T20 champions league immediately after champions trophy they will not accept any thing less than full fledged countries with their first strength teams.

Most likely outcome will be This edition being scrapped fully.

Good for India , the probability of India winning the Champions trophy just increased

I agree with what they did.
Pakistan is a smaller country and you cannot ignore the security situation there. bombs are exploding every day and certainly the conditions aren't good enough to play.

And frankly holding the champions trophy there even after this will only devalue the whole championship. Yeah India might win but would that win have any credibility?


Much better to host it in Sri lanka (But hey then we are also risking a complete wash out )

Host it in India... we'll have more controversies
