India isn't safe as such also.

ICC was already debating what would happen to world cup(2011 world cup in trouble) and that was even before all the three incidents above happened.

What will happen to 2011 world cup. I think the sub continent has lost it. Certainly Pakistan. I think Australia will get it. No way can we play cricket in this environment.

Its too early to take a decision...but still INDIA can host the World Cup, until it provides a Safe Environment

Perhaps Australia, the infrastructure is all in place and we're still relatively safe as a nation... Alternately, the tournament could be held in Dubai or elsewhere in the UAE..

The whole tourney can't be held in Dubai No chance of that.
Also imo they can't shift Pakistan's share of matches to Dubai/Abu Dhabi also as the sheer logistics of carrying players back and forth between the matches would be huge.

No i think Pakistan is out of the question. Sri lanka too with the LTTE war. Imo they will move to Australia (although i do expect BCCI will fight hard to have it just in India.)

Well, the move to Australia is entirely possible.... Just heard on the news, that Victoria is ready to take on the Commonwealth Games, (somewhat presumptuous of our premier, but that's politicians for you), if India is deemed unsafe.....

I'd like to see India keep the Games, but I'd hope that India will request England/Australia & New Zealand to send forces to assist the Indian Army to secure the Games... That way, these terrorist ba$tards would come up against a prepared foe, one who would be only to happy to run them to ground

If the WC2011 is shifted then Australia seems to be the best bet. However i doubt if ICC will be in any hurry to take a decision on it. Australia already has a good infrastructure in place to host a WC, and there is a still lot of time left, i think it will wise on ICC's part to buy some time and access the situation. The key is if the touring teams agree to play in India at the moment. If India can gain the confidence that it is safe, the WC2011 is still in India's reach.

About the commonwealth games, India has already invested a lot for the games, it will be sad if Delhi doesn't host it. Having said that, players' safety has to be the top priority.

It is very sad that this fear factor has been placed on the cricketers. Lets be honest, cricket is a religion in most of our countries and the revenue that the stadiums get and the entire country, where these big matches are played. HUGE money
But yes all our cricketers in every country are too valuable to put there safety at risk.
I did hear on the radio that England has said they will play in India.

The guys are right Ayesha, Australia is likely to be the alternate venue mainly because the infrastructure and the security is already in place.

Add to this is that we're all in the same hemisphere, if India is ruled out where else are they going to go??

Why not in australia? It is a nice place, very good cricketing pitches, decent crowd, wonderful station and more importantly, SAFE! Please host it in summer
