Just 2 months back if someone had said that Dravid won't be playing against Pakistan, he would have been declared insane.
But this is Indian cricket. As i had said last year and before, don't forget the people who were rejoicing over Ganguly's demise, forgot that the same yardsticks would be applied to everyone. Today after 5 failures, Dravid finds himself out of the series against Pakistan.

But even more shocking is the selection of the one man called Virender Sehwag in place of Rahul Dravid. The question is what has Sehwag done in last 1 year to deserve a callback? He hasn't even performed in domestic matches even. I am all for dropping players but i am not for selecting players like Sehwag.


The reason given for the dropping is that Dravid needs rest but then Vengsarkar has also said that dravid needs to go back and perform in domestic cricket to earn his place back. But that means he is not being rested.


Things were never overboard in Indian cricket. There is something thats hidden in all this. It was same with Dada 2 years back, today its the same with the person that replaced Dada and it could just as well be "game over" for Dravid in ODI's.

Ridiculous. Sehwag did not even perform against weak India Red in challenger series.And the 75 today is one of those innings he plays every once in blue moon. How does he deserve the place? As for Dravid, i dont think he will continue playing cricket longer. one thing he may not take to his stride is insult of this sort. Indian cricket is more than sport now. And one question. Who in present Indian squad has the ability to hold on to one end of the crease like dravid? Pakistan have a player like that - Yousaf Youhana (Mohammed Yousuf). Each and every team has a player who can stick onto one end if things go out of hand.Its pure politics. This was bound to happen when u have a politician running cricket board not a cricket representative

Its not an insult. He was not performing and thats a fact. The only thing that makes this very foolish is Sehwag coming in. Plus is this the standard that will be followed from now on.
Personally i think the selectors are just looking for an excuse to drop the seniors. Dada is next in line i think, but not as long as he keeps scoring runs

Well, if they are doing it to Dravid, then they should do it to all non performers. Was Dravid the sole reason for loosing the Australian series?, where are the others?

I don't think its been done cos India lost. I think India losing to Australia was a forgone conclusion (infact whats surprising is we won 2 matches )
The criteria is that who tried to perform and made substantial contributions in those matches so as to give an indication that they tried.
Now the two people that fit the bill are Karthik and Dravid so they have been dropped(actually Sreesanth too but he is the poster boy of the "New India" these days)

The shocking part is the persons who have been included. If Sehwag can be selected based on one challenger trophy match, Badrinath should been selected long time back.

How did they select Sehwag? One single performance? Bah... it is all political. every last bit of it.

If it was someone from Mumbai, it would have been clearly political but there is no one in BCCI these days who backs Delhi(IS Bindra favours Punjab).

Ever heard of regional selectors? That is as political as it gets... it matters little whether the selectors are cricketers or politicians... as long as that bast*** system exists...

^^ u ppl havent heard of regional politics.

Manoj Tiwary & Ranadeb Bose who were adjudicated the two best players of the last Ranji season was never given a serious look in by the selectors. Wht is this gng on in Indian cricket
