53rd FilmFare Awards Results and photos

The annual filmfare awards were presented in a glittering ceremony yesterday(23rd February) at Mumbai at the Yash Raj Studios. It was hosted by Vidya Balan and Karan Johar. had performances from Akshay Kumar, Neil Nitin Mukesh, Deepika Padukone, Kareena Kapoor and Vivek Oberoi. ALong with Himesh Reshamiya. (Although the award show was conspicuous by the absence of the Bacchan brigade including all the Bacchan family and the Hrithiks.)

Best Actor (Male): Shah Rukh Khan for Chak De India

Best Actor (Female): Kareena Kapoor for Jab We Met

Best Director: Aamir Khan for Taare Zameen Par

Best Film: Aamir Khan for Taare Zameen Par

Best Actor in a Supporting Role Male: Irrfan Khan for Life in a Metro

Best Actor in a Supporting Role Female : Konkana Sen Sharma for Life in a Metro.

Best Music: A. R. Rehman for Guru

Best Lyricist: Prasoon Joshi for 'Maa' from Taare Zameen Par

Best Playback Singer (Male): Shaan for 'Jabse Tere Naina' from Saawariya.

Best Playback Singer (Female): Shreya Ghoshal for ' Barso Re ' from Guru.

Best Dialogues: Imitiaz Ali for Jab We Met.

Best Screenplay: Anurag Basu for Life in A Metro.

Best Story: Amol Gupte for Taare Zameen Par

Best Male Debutant: Ranbir Kapoor for Saawariya

Best Female Debutant: Deepika for Om Shanti Om.

The Sony Face of the Year Award: Deepika Padukone

R D Burman Music Award: Monty Sharma for Saawariya.

Best Background Score : A. R. Rehman for Guru

Best Costumes: Sujata Sharma for Gandhi My Father.

Best Cinematography: Sudip Chatterjee Chak De India

Power Award: Yash Chopra and Aditya Chopra

Life Time Achievement Award : Rishi Kapoor

Critics' Award for Best Film: Shimit Amin for Chak De India

Critics' Award for Best Actress: Tabu for Cheeni Kum

Critics Award for the Best Actor: Darsheel Safary for Taare Zammen Pa

The Awards seemed to be lacking STAR POWER

IMO Niel Nitin Mukesh deserves an award for his performance in Johhny Gaddar

Well atleast they were fair. Taare Zameen par was a superb movie and so was Chak De. Both deserved an award but more importantly Om Shanti Om didn't compared to these and justly the filmfare jury didn't give it any award.

SRK was brilliant in Chak De and so was Kareena in Jab We Met. Good fair awards this time Btw whats with the Bacchans giving it a skip Looks like AB thinks his awards(IIFA) are the only ones that matter.

Perhaps they knew none of them would get any awards this year.
