| Re: Mega Thread: Muzic!!! Kurt Cobain: The God! Kurt Cobain was born on February 20 1967, in Hoquaim, a small town southwest of Seattle. Kurt Cobain later moved to Aberdeen, where he had a happy childhood until his parents divorced. The divorce left Kurt Cobain's outlook on the world forever scared. Kurt Cobain became withdrawn and anti-social. Kurt Cobain was constantly placed with one relative to the next and at times even homeless, forcing him to sleep under a bridge. Kurt Cobain was not the most popular person in high school, getting picked on by "jocks" and being labeled as "queer". In 1985, Kurt Cobain left Aberdeen for Olympia where he formed the band Nirvana in 1986. In 1989 Nirvana recorded their debut album Bleach under the independent label Sub-Pop records. Nirvana became very popular in Britain and by 1991 they signed a contract with Geffen. Their next album Nevermind became a 90s masterpiece and made Kurt's Nirvana one of the most successful bands in the world. Kurt became trampled upon with success and found the new lifestyle hard to bear. In February 1992 Kurt Cobain married Courtney Love, the woman who was already pregnant with his child, Frances Bean Cobain. Nirvana released their next album Incesticide later that year. The album appealed to many fans due to the liner notes, which expressed Kurt's open-mindedness. In September 1993, Nirvana released their next album, 'In Utero', which topped the charts. On March 4, 1994, Kurt Cobain was taken to hospital in a coma. It was officially stated as an accident but many believe it to have been an unsuccessful suicide attempt. Family and friends convinced Kurt to seek rehab. Kurt Cobain was said to have fled rehab after only a few days from a missing person's report filed by Courtney Love. On April 8th Kurt Cobain's body was found in his Seattle home. In his arms was a shotgun, which had been fired into his head. Near him laid a suicide note written in red ink. It was addressed to his wife Courtney Love and his daughter Frances Cobain. Two days after Kurt's body was discovered people gathered in Seattle, they began setting fires, chanting profanities, and fighting with police officers. They also listened to a tape of Courtney reading sections of the suicide note left by Kurt. The last few words were "I love you, I love you".

| Elvis: Long live the king! Elvis Aaron Presley, in the humblest of circumstances, was born to Vernon and Gladys Presley in a two-room house in Tupelo, Mississippi on January 8, 1935. His twin brother, Jessie Garon, was stillborn, leaving Elvis to grow up as an only child. He and his parents moved to Memphis, Tennessee in 1948, and Elvis graduated from Humes High School there in 1953. Elvis’ musical influences were the pop and country music of the time, the gospel music he heard in church and at the all-night gospel sings he frequently attended, and the black R&B he absorbed on historic Beale Street as a Memphis teenager. In 1954, he began his singing career with the legendary Sun Records label in Memphis. In late 1955, his recording contract was sold to RCA Victor. By 1956, he was an international sensation. With a sound and style that uniquely combined his diverse musical influences and blurred and challenged the social and racial barriers of the time, he ushered in a whole new era of American music and popular culture. He starred in 33 successful films, made history with his television appearances and specials, and knew great acclaim through his many, often record-breaking, live concert performances on tour and in Las Vegas. Globally, he has sold over one billion records, more than any other artist. His American sales have earned him gold, platinum or multi-platinum awards for 150 different albums and singles, far more than any other artist. Among his many awards and accolades were 14 Grammy nominations (3 wins) from the National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences, the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, which he received at age 36, and his being named One of the Ten Outstanding Young Men of the Nation for 1970 by the United States Jaycees. Without any of the special privileges his celebrity status might have afforded him, he honorably served his country in the U.S. Army. His talent, good looks, sensuality, charisma, and good humor endeared him to millions, as did the humility and human kindness he demonstrated throughout his life. Known the world over by his first name, he is regarded as one of the most important figures of twentieth century popular culture. Shakira's debut album, Magia (Magic), was recorded with Sony Music in 1991 when she was only 15-years-old, but the album wasn't well received. In 1993, Shakira released her sophomore album, Peligro (Danger), which performed marginally better than her first, though it was still not a commercial success. Instead of releasing a third album right away, Shakira decided to finish High School, after which she released her third album, the 1995 offering, Pies Descalzos (Bare Feet), which was a major success in Latin America. As the album took off, selling 4 million copies of the singles Estoy Aquí (I'm Here), Pies Descalzos, Sueños Blancos (Bare Feet, White Dreams), and Dónde Estás Corazón (Where Are You, Heart?), Shakira released a remixed version of the album for the Brazilian market entitled The Remixes, which sold 1 million copies. With her musical status quickly rising, Shakira released her fourth album, Dónde Están Los Ladrones (Where Are The Thieves?) in 1998 to even greater success and also started to open her music to non-Spanish speaking fans. Avril Lavigne Birthdate: September 27, 1984 Birthplace: Napanee, Ontario Avril Lavigne began singing at festivals, country music fairs and talent contests before being discovered. On a trip to New York City, Avril Lavigne lucked out by being in the right place at the right time. Avril was in a studio writing when she caught the eye of Antonio "LA" Reid who got the young artist a contract with Arista Records. Avril Lavigne's debut album, Let Go, (which was released in June 2002), has sold millions of copies world wide. At that time, Avril took the world by storm - literally. Avril Lavigne's Try To Shut Me Up world tour was a huge success. If you missed seeing her in your town, you can check out Avril Lavigne's show on her My World DVD. My World was released in the fall of 2003 and it features live versions of Avril Lavigne's hits like Complicated and Sk8er Boi as well as cover tunes, like Green Day's Basket Case. When Let Go was released, Avril Lavigne was just 17. She sang about not fitting in, her crushes, her heart being broken and she sang it like a rockstar. It wasn't long before girls everywhere were trading in their midriff-bearing outfits for T-shirts, Dickies and Chucks. Well, that same hard-rockin' chica hit back with her second album, Under My Skin, which featured the track, Don't Tell Me.
