A.R Rahman is to be thanked to have given our industry such nice compositions! And the recognition has also come from the west...
After inspiring several million Indians, his songs “Khalbali” and “Lukka Chuppi” from Rang De Basanti are making waves on the international scene. They have made have made it to what is called the Oscar longlist in the Best Original Song category for the Oscars in the 79th Annual Academy Awards.
“It is a wonderful feeling. I have not heard of such a thing happening in the past. These are songs in Rahman and in my personal space,” said Prasoon Joshi, Lyricist of Rang De Bansanti.
The greatest feeling is that Rahman is being pitted against rockers like Sheryl Crow and Audioslave lead singer Chris Cornell for the coveted final 5 nominations.And that’s one heck of an honor..!!
It is not just two songs from Rang De Basanti which is figuring in the Oscar longlist there is also “Chan Chan” from the movie “Water” and A.R Rahman again is the man behind it.
Currently there are 56 songs being considered in this category and the final nominations will be announced on January 23 and the awards ceremony will be held a month later.
Lets hope the movie also makes it in the nomination and the winning category of Oscars...
