One of the most famous love affairs in Bollywood is all but over. Salman Khan is reportedly trying hard to save his relationship with Katrina Kaif now.
Organising a lavish birthday party for Kat was, in fact, a placatory move on Salman’s part, an effort to keep his not-too-interested-anymore girlfriend happy. Unfortunately, the plan backfired and the Sallu-SRK spat took front seat rather than a happy celebration of Kat’s birthday. In fact, it ruined the day for Kat. Everyone saw that she was distraught at Sallu’s behaviour that day.
Kat confided to a friend recently, “This has become a pattern. Salman always tries to do something to please me, but just ends up getting me more irritated.” She hasn’t been taking his calls lately, says our source.
Industry insiders have been talking about the cooling off of this relationship for some months now. The hot affair has already toned down to a mere friendship, according to their close friends.
Kat has always had a problem with Sallu’s drinking, especially the fact that when he’s punch-drunk, he does tend to go on about Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, which Kat resents. A friend talks about the time when Sallu called up Kat in front of him and asked her to come over. She asked him if he was drinking, when he answered in the affirmative, she refused to join him. Apparently the urge to break off is more on Kat’s side. She has a rocking career and wants to move on now. In fact, she has been heard saying that she doesn’t want to do films with Salman right now. She knows that it will limit her justblooming career and she wants to work with heroes nearer her age.

Salman reportedly instigated Shah Rukh by speaking about their reality shows - Dus Ka Dum and Kya aap Paanchvi Pass Se Tez Hain? Salman claimed that his show Dus Ka Dum had garnered more TRPs than Shah Rukh's, according to informed sources.

Salman scoffed at Shah Rukh by saying that despite being a superstar he could not make his show a hit. The war of words later turned rather ugly and Aamir Khan had to intervene.

Talking about the politics in Bollywood, Salman said that the "developing trend in the industry is not to celebrate other's success".

He added: "Every time another person is successful there will be someone trying to pull him down. You don't increase your own efforts to become successful but try to always decrease someone else's success. That is the mantra of the industry."

Salman is also apparently miffed with Shah Rukh for turning down his request for a cameo in his brother Sohail Khan's home production Main Aur Mrs Khanna.
