Known since 1996 as the traditional first stop in the F1 Grand Prix Series, this year the race was bumped back to number three to accommodate the Commonwealth Games. The Albert Park Circuit is an unusual course, incorporating public streets in some sections, and demanding proper car compatibility for strong race results. With few overtake areas, top qualifying position is definitely important to finish high in the points.
