New (and Final) Reputation Ladder Changes

Hello everyone,

I have just completed, what i hope , will be the final reputation ladder change on FE.

A bit of history. When FE was started we had tinkered with the default settings of FE to reward the posters. Unfortunately we messed up with the tinkering cos very soon people had rep power of 1000 and people's reps were in high thousands

Now when i found that, i tinkered with the settings again to correct the flaw but i never fixed the reps that were distributed during the flawed time period.

Now after this discussion: Reputation, i think it was right to fix the reps distributed during the flawed time period. I have gone ahead and done that.

For the sake of transparency, this is what is done:

Reputation is influenced by reputation power. Now ideally it should be(for very senior and active members) in the range of 50's. During that period, it was in the range of 1000's. Now i have gone ahead and downgraded all reps passed during that period to a conservative high value of 50. (again this is actually favouring those old members as not many have a rep power of 50 even now)

The new reps are now on display. They have been drastically reduced, and more realistic. I have also enabled the rep power display for some time to show what your rep power is currently. Again if you are active, posting quality content, you rep power will be more. If you are those sight seeing person don't blame me if your rep power is too low.

so u say that if i have a rep power of 6 so my rep pts for one rep will be acc to dat.
btw how can we increase our rep power?

Very simple, just post quality content. Others will rep you. Your reputation will increase automatically.

I think this is a nice feature and should always be enabled. This will bring in more transparency and the members will try and be competitive to stay ahead in the race.

But it also depends on who reps you , for example if a senior member with high rep points reps you , you will get more rep points compared to reps received by new members.

Speaking of reps , plz do something about the spread reputation system. Its highly annoying. WHat you can do is allow to rep the same person say after 24 hrs.
