Carlo Ancelotti has confirmed that he will step into the Chelsea hot seat and start managing the club in the summer.
An official announcement is expected to be made this week as AC Milan search for his replacement.
SunSport from the UK reports that Ancelotti told Roman Abramovich that he wanted the Chelsea job yesterday.
The decision came after Milan's disappointing defeat to Udinese over the weekend as Jose Mourinho's Inter Milan won the Scudetto.
Ancelotti was summoned to an emergency meeting with Rossoneri vice-president Adriano Galliani and club directors after their latest defeat.
The Milan coach and those involved in the meeting agreed that Ancelotti's eight-year stay at Milan was over. Ancelotti was allowed to leave for Stamford Bridge with the club's blessing.
Former Ajax boss Marco van Basten is now in negotiations to take over the Rossoneri.
A four-year deal approximately worth £22million will be awaiting Ancelotti's signature after he undergoes a medical.
Ancelotti made up his mind to take the Blues job after Milan president Silvio Berlusconi blamed him for failing to land the title.
