Barcelona are looking to sign Argentinean international Mario Bolatti as a back-up for Sergi Busquets in midfield.
According to Sport, Barcelona will be without the services of Yaya Toure and Seydou Keita when they leave for the African Cup of Nations in January.
The Catalan side think Bolatti, who scored Argentina's crucial winner in their World Cup qualifier against Uruguay, is the perfect replacement for the defensive duo.
The 24-year-old Bolatti is contracted to Porto but is on loan back in his homeland at Huracan.
Barcelona are also believed to be on a look-out for more midfield options in January.
