Re: English Premier League
Latest Transfer Rumors:
# Tom Yam Suree to join Man City.
Manchester City are set to announce the signing of Thai International Suree Sakha. The fiery right back is known for his speedy runs down the flank in support of the attack. The transfer was initiated by former Thai leader, Thaksin Shinawatra who has stakes in the club.
# Ujfalusi's says no to Liverpool.
Fiorentina stopper Tomas Ujfalusi's agent claims that he rejected Liverpool's offer to take him to Merseyside and has decided to remain at Fiorentina. Liverpool are in need of a defender to cover the gap left by Jamie Carragher.
# Gravesen back with the Toffees.
The 31 year old midfielder is set to be loaned back to his former club Everton for a year. Known for his fearless attitude and strong tackling, he will be a hit for the fans who adored him during his time at Everton.
# Kallon wanted at Birminghan.
Former Inter Milan player Mohammed Kallon who now plays for French side Monaco is on Steve Bruce's wanted list. Dynamic dribbler blessed with a quick turn of pace, Kallon will suit the Premiership just fine.
# Mourinho to plead Porto for winger Quaresma
Desperate Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho is beefing up his attacking options — and Portugal ace Ricardo Quaresma fits the bill. The only problem for the Special One - tomorrow's deadline for the transfer window - is that the player would cost more than Chelsea are willing to pay. It is understood that the Blues have offered at least one player — understood to be Paulo Ferreira — plus around £8m in cash. However, Porto is stalling for hope of more cash after Ferreira and Ricardo Carvalho moved to Stamford Bridge in the first place.
But Quaresma, 23, is anxious to further his career in the Premier League as the perfect platform for his attacking style.
# Hammers step up hunt for Barnes
West Ham United seek to re-double their efforts to sign Giles Barnes before the transfer window expires tomorrow. Reports expect them to pay more than 5 million pounds for the 19-year-old talent. Another hopeful signing is Nicky Shorey but West Ham's 5 million pound bid was rejected by Reading.
# Derby hopeful of clinching Miller deal
Derby, meanwhile, are still hopeful of signing Celtic's Kenny Miller for £2.5m, while a deal is set to be agreed with the Monaco striker Mohammed Kallon, who is available on a free transfer, as they attempt to boost their striking options.
# Reds looking at defensive cover in Davies
Highly-rated (or over-hyped to some) West Brom defender Curtis Davies may be on the move to Liverpool. Aston Villa were rumoured to be interested but their signing of Zat Knight from Fulham has left the door open for the Reds to swoop. Liverpool urgently need defensive reinforcements after the injury to Jamie Carragher and the sale of Gabriel Paletta (not to mention the liability of Sami Hyypia) and Davies could be the answer. £10m may prove to be a stumbling block to stingy Rafael Benitez though.
# West Ham eye Shorey
The spending spree at Upton Park continues unabated as Reading’s promising left-back Nicky Shorey becomes the next player to be linked to West Ham. Papers have suggested that Shorey is valued at £5m. Will Shorey take a risk and head to East London to a club still embroiled in uncertainty or stay loyal to the Royals?
# David Nugent is Derby bound?
Derby County have enquired about signing England striker David Nugent from Portsmouth. Nugent only signed for Portsmouth a few weeks back for £6 million and Harry Redknapp has insisted that he is not for sale despite leaving him on the bench for Pompey's last two league games. Redknapp has started with Utaka, Kanu and Benjani upfront in the last few games after Nugent failed to impress in Pompey's season opener.
With Anelka rumoured to be moving to Fratton Park, Nugent might need to find playing time somewhere else.
# Ronaldinho to Chelsea?
Reports have been in overdrive that Roman Abramovich has held meetings with Ronaldinho's brother and agent hoping to persuade the Brazil playmaker to move to Stamford Bridge.
The rumoured price is £40 million but Barcelona's sport director Txiki Berguiristain has refuted these claims.
It might all come down to Ronaldinho himself as he did not seem happy in Barca's season opener on Sunday against Racing Santander.
# Anelka and Papa Boupa Diop to join Portsmouth
Reports have claimed that French striker Nicolas Anelka is set to leave Sammy Lee's Bolton Wanderers and join league rivals Portsmouth in a deal worth £9 million with Fulham's Senegal International Diop joining him at Fratton Park for £3 million.
# Bremen defender Per Mertesacker for Aston Villa
Martin O'Neil has made a £7 million bid for the German international defender to try and shore up his ageing backline. Werder Bremen have yet to accept the bid but might be tempted to sell the injury prone defender.
# West Ham interested in Benni McCarthy
Alan Curbishley is tempted to sign the Blackburn striker for £8 million as his current strikers Bobby Zamora and Craig Bellamy have not lived up to expectations.
McCarthy has been left on the bench as Paraguayan striker Roque Santa Cruz has been in top form for the club. The move is unlikely to happen as the player has stated that he will only leave to join a club that is playing in Europe.
# Big Sam raids old club for Faye
Report coming out of Newcastle have stated that Bolton's Abdoulaye Faye has agreed to move to Tyneside in a deal worth £2m-plus.
The player will sign a contract worth £40,000-a-week. Big Sam has been trying to sign the player for the past two weeks as his main man in midfield Joey Barton is still out.
# Middlesbrough's Arca to rejoin Sunderland
Sunderland manager is reportedly in talks with Boro midfielder Julio Arca for a return to the Stadium of Light. The Argentine midfielder left the Black Cats a year ago for £1.75 million and is valued at £5 million currently.
Keane is looking to strengthen his midfield options before the transfer window closes this week.
# Three clubs fighting for Gomes
Portugese International Nuno Gomes who currently plays for Benfica is a wanted man. Wigan, Middlesbrough and Manchester City are fighting tooth and nail for the striker's signature. Gomes has been linked with Tottenham Hotspur in the past and is currently Portugal's chief striker after the retirement of PSG's Pauleta.
The 31 year old has stated that he is interested in a move to England for one last shot in the limelight.
# Sunderland not signing Kuffour
Roy Keane has decided against signing experienced defender Sammy Kuffour from Roma after bringing him in for trials the past week. Levante's Ian Harte is also in for trials and will most likely be offered a contract before the transfer window closes.
# Danny Murphy is finally wanted!
Roy Keane has been a busy man the past few days as he is scrambling to bring in as many new faces as he can. Spurs reject Danny Murphy is another player he is in for.
The former Liverpool stalwart has had a horrendous time at Spurs with only a few substitute appearances and reserve league games under his belt last season. Might prove to be a good buy for Keane with his vast experience in the top flight.
# Celtic put three on transfer list
Celtic's Kenny Miller may be moving over to England with clubs like Manchester City, Derby, Everton and Fulham keeping a close eye on proceedings.
He is one of the three Celtic players reportedly put on the transfer list along with Thomas Gravesen and Maciej Zurawski.
