The much awaited match between England and Germany didn't quite end the way i wanted(thanks to robinson and owen ). England were without Wayne rooney and it was micheal owen who started up front with smith (donno where theo walcott was?). Both teams played some attacking football and it was Frank Lampard who broke the deadlock to give England lead in the 17th min. But thanks to Robinson who messed up an easy cross to perry it away just in front of goal, and an easy tap was all it required for germany to equalise.

Though the first german goal was more of a luck, the second goal was breathtaking. Ponder making his debut for germany kicked in a sensational goal (typical paul scholes) to give germany 2-1 lead. Micheal owen misssed two easy chances to equalise before half time.

There were no more goals in the second half and the match ended 2-1 in germany's favour

Its official..steve mclaren is a flop....evn the fans who booed Swen Goran Ericsson know tht he was atleast much better than this idiot..see what has happened to England after this guy took over... england squad is very very good on paper...roon, owen, becks, hargreaves, gerrard, lampard(misfiring champ..),terry etc..but still they cannot perform...thts too bad..As always, i was all for England in the WC..but tht was just unfortunate.. England has really good players...they just need a better coach...

Yeah i agree with you. I too never liked Mclaren. They could have probably gone in for Luiz Felipe Scolari. But his fat paycheck was the cause of concern for many. Scolari did well to coach brazil to win the WC in 2002 and last year he guided portugal to the semis. He could have definately handled the english football stars better than anyone...

Lol..neways, i liked the germans too, my second favorite team in WC, but the german squad is an aging lot...last year, apart from miroslav klose n to some extent podolski, none of the rest in the squad showed as much promise....if they dont replace the current aging lot with new talent, all tht'll be left of the machines is cantankerous junk....

Yeah agree with u.. Ballack has passed his best and Oliver khan is retired. Jens lensman is just a shadow of Khan and can never clome close.

Pedolski has done wonderfully well though, and so has klose..

But personally i never liked Germany and italian teams. They don't have the grace or charisma of the teams like brazil, argentina or say even England for that matter..

Damn, dont know why but i simply dont like the south american teams...especially Brazil...i know, how happy i was when brazil lost to France in the quarters last year...
for some reason never liked the brazilian side, no matter how good players they may have.. They are wayy overhyped !!

I kinda follow the euro teams more...
