Spurs facing Defoe blow Tottenham Hotspur striker Jermain Defoe is likely to miss this weekend's trip to Bolton Wanderers due to a hand injury.
The 26-year-old sustained a broken bone and two dislocated fingers in last weekend's 5-0 thrashing of Burnley and could now be a doubt for England's upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Ukraine and Belarus.
Spurs boss Harry Redknapp confirmed: "He is struggling. Jermain dislocated two fingers against Burnley last Saturday and they couldn't get them back in.
"But he has also fractured his hand. He spent all Saturday night in hospital and is struggling.
"Hopefully, he'll be okay for England, but we'll have to wait and see."
Redknapp went on to hint that Peter Crouch was likely to have been handed a start at Bolton, even if Defoe was passed fit.
He added: "Peter will get the opportunity to play plenty of games this year. Next is away to Bolton - a big strong team.
"Set-plays - we have got to be prepared for that. Last week we went with a small team, this week I will probably pick a bigger team."
