A narrow 1-0 win over Uruguay in the hostile atmosphere of Montevideo helped Diego Maradona's team secure a place at the global extravaganza, despite a qualifying campaign that had lurched from one crisis to another.
Throughout their torturous path to South Africa, Maradona and Argentina's assembled stars were heavily criticised for several below par performances, coverage that Maradona sensationally lambasted in a press conference after the win over Uruguay.
Now Tevez, who is expected to feature for Manchester City at Wigan on Sunday, has joined forces with Maradona and claimed that he too has had his fill of the negativity surrounding the national team.
"When I play for Argentina I spend more time suffering than enjoying myself," the forward is reported as saying by The Telegraph newspaper.
"The (Argentina) fans insulted us, the journalists criticised everything... I'm tired of all that.
"It is okay for them to criticise the national team in football terms, but in a destructive manner no, we don't receive any help.
"Sometimes I think about quitting the national team. Why should I come to Argentina and have a bad time?"
