Manchester United have shocked the football world after accepting an £80million offer from Real Madrid for Cristiano Ronaldo.
Ronaldo's Old Trafford future had been the subject of intense speculation since the end of the season and Real finally appear to have landed their man after being granted permission to speak with the Portugal international.
The decision to sell Ronaldo was taken solely by manager Sir Alex Ferguson. A spokesman for the Glazer family said "It was purely a football decision and had nothing to do with the financial structure of the club."
It is understood that the full £80million will be made available for Sir Alex Ferguson to invest in the transfer market this summer.

I also wanna say that Manchester United wasn't one man show its a team but they can't replace anybody for Roanldo yet they can have Tevez either or get some other player and can take a good place this season too but with a difference Ronaldo won't be replaced by somebody better
Signing Ronaldo for £12.5million and selling for £80million is a great profit and they can invest a lot but they won't be able to get such a player at least this season

There have been such cries around when Beckham was kicked out of Man Utd but still Manchester United are at the top...Players will come n go but at the end all that matters how well U play as a team. And a team cannot be held on ransom by an player who tries to intimidate about him going off..
Ronaldo was nobody when Sir Alex picked him up same with Beckham and there might be yet another Ronaldo/Beckham in the offering

He is one of the greatest mangers, and he has what it takes to turn another no-name guy into Ronaldo.
Hope he stays for some more time at old trafford. Age is catching up with him too.
Ronaldo wanted to leave. So now or later, he would have left. SAF made great profit out of him. They can use the fund for bagging a class player this season. |

Ronaldo was a replacement for Beckham...and now SAF will find a replacement for ROnaldo, sure he was a Talented guy, but he too left for more money in another club, like Beckham did
anyways...i guess that No. 7 Jersey in that Right Winger Position is lucky for anyone who gets into it

Yeah and the story ends with Real stealing him again like they did David Beckham, Rudd Val nistelroy and now CR7
I agree no money can buy the talent he possesses, but if his heart is not here in old trafford then its good for the team to let him go. 80 million pounds is not a small amount and i am sure SAF will use it in the best possible way to buy players who could help the club move forward. Who knows we may have a player better than Ronaldo donning the jersey number 7
