> About time Hamilton had a 'bad' race

After all the hype and media coverage that Lewis Hamilton seems to be attracting I think its about time he had a relatively bad race, and nothing better then his home grand prix then I think to bring him back to earth. Although he said he lacked pace this time because of different rear-end compared to Alonso, I think he was just clearly outclassed today.

Although I know I'm going to be flamed for this, I think Lewis Hamilton is a bit over-rated. Not that I deny he is fast, its just the consistency in his complete race performance that seems to be lacking. I think Lewis still does not have it in him yet to be world champion. He's still a wee bit immature as a race driver at the moment and with all the media coverage I think he maybe blinded from that fact that he still has a steep learning curve to climb. Luck just seems to favor him right now, and I guess he's going to be doing well while it lasts. I'm still waiting for Lewis to be completely tested when the all the cards are stacked against him, like as in start from the back of the grid, and if he does do well, then I'll accept my mistake in judgement completely, because right now the feeling you get is that even if you put a Ralf Schumacher into a McLaren, the worst position he could finish in is a 4th[that is if he doesn't suffer from any bad luck] with the sheer pace advantage the McLaren Ferrari cars have.

He's just a rookie with 6-7 races under his belt
and it always helps to be in a good car
Yet, given the present scenario, he's pretty consistent on getting on to the podium than anyone else in the grid.

Yeah. Being a rookie and the way he has performed, let us give him the due respect he deserves.

I agree with Mask and Agnel.

And let's be honest, this was NOT a bad race by any standards.... A bad race is due for him...but this was not it.

I read about the race in ToI today. Hamilton said "I chose the wrong set-up for the race, which costed me". Notice that? He admits that he made the mistake. That just increased my respect for him 10 times When is the last time cry-baby siad anything like that?

Good point actually.... I have never seen Crybaby accept his mistake like that.

looking at the current scenario, Hami has a good chance to lift the championship trophy in his debut year. For the first time in many years, we have 4 championship contenders willing to take points off each other. That increases Hami's chances manifold. He had the best of lucks and he has been damn consistent. He knows how to nurse a car in difficult conditions, he knows how to muscle his way past and he also knows how to shut the door when it comes to defending his position. This guy has got nothing to lose and he can take all the risks in the world if he likes unlike some other drivers who have their reputation at stake. That creates more pressure and more errors but Hami is definitely a good driver..well above average.

Hamilton's good .. plus the fact that he's comfortable at Mclaren. He's got the stuff in him to be a champion, as long as he stays at Mclaren (which I'm quite sure he will).
