Alonso at it again. Being unsportive.
The way this guy talks.... as if he would have won the race if not for his bad luck.
He was pathetic yesterday..... but instead of giving credit to his teammate, he says he was "lucky".
Yes he was lucky, but he didnt make a single mistake yesterday unlike his so-called World Champion teammate.
Fernando Alonso reckons his McLaren team-mate Lewis Hamilton was “very lucky” not to suffer the same fate as him with the timing of the first safety car period in the Canadian Grand Prix.
While race-winner Hamilton exited his first fuel stop less than a lap before the first safety car was deployed, Alonso had to pit once the safety car was out in order to avoid running out of fuel – a move which incurred a 10 second stop-go penalty under the new-for-2007 regulations.
The penalty dropped the double world champion from third to the lower reaches of the points and although he was happy for the team that Hamilton won, he said things could so nearly have been very different for the rookie.
“Yes, [Hamilton's win is] very good, very good for the team,” he told ITV Sport’s Louise Goodman.
“Very lucky as well as we were on very similar strategies and if the safety car comes one lap before the [Lewis’] stop we would have been eighth and ninth today.
“That at least worked for someone in the team and you know, very, very happy.”
Alonso, however, had looked strangely below-par even before the misfortune of his first fuel stop, running across the turn one grass on three separate occasions as he slipped from second to fourth.
But after making up ground following his penalty, he then out-braked himself at turn one for a fourth time and lost and position to Ferrari rival Kimi Raikkonen before being sensationally past by Super Aguri’s Takuma Sato with two laps to go – dropping him to seventh place.
However he says mistakes were inevitable as he tried to make up lost ground.
"It [penalty] was a shame as this resulted in a 10 second penalty but I guess that unfortunately those are the rules but there was no alternative other than to stop on track with no fuel,” he said.
“After that I had to push as hard as possible because I was stuck in the middle of the field and when you push to the maximum you sometimes go off track but at that stage there was nothing to lose.”
Alonso, when will you grow up ?? When will you learn to take responsibility for your actions and give credit where it is due ?? When will you learn to acknowledge that you suck ??

well said!!
pushing hard doesnt mean you make the same mistake over n ove again!!!
if your car isnt *performing* you drive it within the limits and dont go crying like a baby n complaining.....he is just a sore looser!!
on the other hand hats off to Hamilton for winning like a pro and to Sato for that perfect overtaking!!

Re: Alonso at it again. Being unsportive.
He is right about the lucky part. Hamilton was lucky, and a lot of people were unlucky including him. I have got no problems with that. The safety car indeed crapped Alonso's chances. Having said that Alonso was never going to win the race. Hamilton had a pretty good lead at the start before the first "incident" and Alonos can only blame himself for being slow to take off and allowing Heidfield to come in between him and Alonso at the start of the race.
Plus if all that wasn't enough, but for his park visits, the situation could still have been salvaged. So he can blame himself.
All said and done, he can blame himself for not coming second yesterday, he was never gonna win. But he is right about Hamilton being lucky, but as they say "You make your own luck"
Good though, we have competition in Mclaren. This will do the team a lot of good.

I am not doubting the part abt Hamilton being lucky.
But I dont like this guy's attitude. Instead of accepting Hamilton was awesome and drove flawlessly and praising him, all he says is "Hamilton was lucky"
Hello..... Even if you are lucky, you need to still finish the race

lol but Alonso will be alonso.
Everyone is different. Alonso can't digest how the rookie is winning and he the champion isn't in the same car All he needs to do is start driving aggressively.

hmm...now you defend him by saying "alonso is alonso" ??
He is an unsportive idiot.
He may have won 2 championships. Fine. But that does not make him a Champion. Damon Hill was a better champion than him.
Sheesh.... Gilles Villeneuve was a better person than this moron.

No he can be whatever or say whatever as long as he wins for Mclaren. Although i will prefer Hamilton over him any day
