Narain Karthikeyan is looking more and more likely to replace Alex Wurz as the Williams team's official third driver for next season.
Karthikeyan, 29, has been acting as a secondary tester for the British team and is eager to move up the food chain for the 2007 season.
After an unspectacular debut for the now defunct Jordan team, Karthikeyan failed to find a racing seat and has now set his sights on getting back into pole position through taking up Wurz's current Williams seat.
The Indian driver's financial backers Tata look set to team up with the Williams team again and according to the Calcutta Telegraph, a decision regarding Karthikeyan 'should be known sooner than later.'
"I would like to take Alex Wurz's place," he said.
"I'm in discussions. We will come to know about it in a few weeks' time."
Karthikeyan will meet up with the Williams team at Silverstone next week as they continue testing for the final three Grand Prix of the season.
Finally some good news for him, although its highly doubtful he is going to get to race as such. we lready have a new entrant coming for monty/del rosa
