Michael Schumacher voted Man of the Year
Michael Schumacher walked away from Formula 1 with one final gong to add to his collection – F1 Racing magazine’s Man of the Year award.
The seven-time world champion widely considered the greatest driver of all time polled a massive 54% of the votes. A total of 46,937 fans from around the world took part in the poll.
Double World Champion was way back in second place with only 21% of the votes. What would have affected his rating was his public comments about his team and his comments that the team was not supporting him.
And despite losing out to the Spaniard in his pursuit for an eighth crown, the retired legend also beat the Spaniard to the Driver of the Year title after an inspired 16th and final season in the sport.
Jenson Button won the Drive of the Year title for his stunning performance in claiming his first career victory in the rain in Hungary, while BMW sensation Robert Kubica was voted Rookie of the Year.
