if you believe that any major company doesn't do espionage you are kidding yourself. They don't get caught doing it and if they do they suffer what Mclaren suffered. Fair enough, but that doesn't mean no one is doing it.
If by exchanging info on balance of the cars(i am not even going into whether they used it) mclaren were able to deliver a top car and ferrari couldn't that tells you so much for their own engineering. There is no such thing as copied info. The one that shines is the best. Google came onto the web after seeing 7 dfferent search engines already doing the rounds. They grabbed the best minds and delivered the best offing. Its not espionage there but the point being if you can do a better design you are the best.

Mate, Mclaren never had better car compared to Ferrari, remove that illusion from your mind

You are ignoring one important aspect here.

Having enough info on the other car not only helps improve your car but also gives a whole lot of info on the strategies. And Ferraris are the master strategists!!! If one could 'guess' Ferraris are gonna pit on the 26th lap, then one could easily tell wat kind of setup Ferrari's running on. One could (and definitely would) then plan one's strategy accordingly. Its like you are playing Vish Anand except u already know his every move prior to the game. Its like.. DUH!!!

I haven't glorified mclaren, i am pretty annoyed with them over getting caught

over a thing that every one in the industry does. (See this). What i am questioning is that if you believe or ferrari believes that by the fickle info that was leaked, Mclaren have improived so much over last year then you are living in fools paradise. Ferrari is like a small kid accusing another for topping the class when he saw 1 answer in a test of 100 marks. (with 100% chance that the person himself is cheating)
either way mclaren was penalized for the offence and pretty well for that. I don't see why it should be punished more, but obviously ferrari fans will ask that as ferrari needs all the help this year

ehh getting caught in espionage, irrespective of what info is shared or used means heavy punitive damages.
Either way am all for espionage as long as you don't get caught

If you believe or say nobody in F1 gives a teeny rat's ass about an improvement of 1 millionth of a second, then my friend you dont belong to this discussion. No one here claimed McLaren was a piece of shit this season. And perhaps you (like most of the times) chose to conveniently ignore the fact that McLaren saw 'DRAMATIC' improvements in car's performance mid season. Heck, u even played it to your advantage in Fantasy F1 saying Ferrari did very good in the season openers and hence it always cost more (to bet on the team) than the much better McLaren.
