Luca di Montezemolo has continued to fume at the outcome of the espionage saga involving Ferrari's runaway championship rival McLaren.

"I still think it was a serious error to not also disqualify the drivers," the Italian is quoted as saying by La Gazzetta dello Sport.

"All I want to say is that if Hamilton wins the world championship, he will have won it thanks to Ferrari, because within his car there is plenty of our team."

There is no way of knowing whether the current McLaren car actually has Ferrari technology or not.

can't even take defeat. Fact was that Mclaren would have beaten them anyway in constructors too(they should be the ones thanking mclaren for being foolish). If such good technology was copied from ferrari, you would reckon ferrari would be doing pretty well with 100% of their own technology.

ferrari were let down by the cars reliability this year. sad considering at one time ferrari had some of the most reliable cars around. that and that stupid gearbox

If Ferrari cannot take defeat they wouldn't have kept quiet for 21 years before Michael Schumacher actually revived Ferrari.

Have you seen the emails by the de la rosa and Alonso asking about tech information (balance of the car etc)? i dunno how much you know about Automobile technology, but having studied it, I can tell you that is pretty sensitive information that was exchanged and the fact that Mclarens were fined that obscene amount tells you what information was exchanged. And if someone has copied a good techology from other guy, that does not mean that he will not be able to improve the technology. for ex - copy the pages of website and improve it by adding your own extra jazz to make it look better than the original. Completely "Doable". What if the chief designer says "I came up with a new design... have these problems in the design.. can few of the specialists fix it?" and hands over the stolen tech design to the rest of the team, Do you think the Mclaren thinktank appointed for the car design wont be able to come up with solutions? Mclaren can definately do that. They might have made their modfications to the car to the 2006 car and improved it to such an extent in 2007 that they beat both Ferrari and Renault, but the fact remains that they had stolen the technology. Whether they have used it or not, its an open secret. Why the drivers were let off ?, i really dont understand.

if you believe that any major company doesn't do espionage you are kidding yourself. They don't get caught doing it and if they do they suffer what Mclaren suffered. Fair enough, but that doesn't mean no one is doing it.
If by exchanging info on balance of the cars(i am not even going into whether they used it) mclaren were able to deliver a top car and ferrari couldn't that tells you so much for their own engineering. There is no such thing as copied info. The one that shines is the best. Google came onto the web after seeing 7 dfferent search engines already doing the rounds. They grabbed the best minds and delivered the best offing. Its not espionage there but the point being if you can do a better design you are the best.
