Michael Schumacher is set to give further details behind his decision to quit Formula 1 when his revised official biography is launched on Friday.

The original book entitled 'Driving Force' was written by the seven-time champion’s personal advisor Sabine Kehm in 2003, but has been updated and renamed 'Schumacher'.

It will initially be available in German language only.

The latest edition will cover the decision behind his retirement after 16 seasons in F1 and also his thoughts on his early rivalry with Ayrton Senna.

In the preface to the book Schumacher says the book is “an emotional, not chronological retrospective” of his experiences in the sport.

He adds on retirement: “The decisive thing for me was the fact that one concept was always clear: that one day I would retire and that I would find other things that I would enjoy.

"I've never had the opinion that I'm the best or unbeatable.

"I still have no idea what effects it [retirement] will have on me, but I'm not afraid of it either."

While he also spoke about what the sport has given him during his career.

"Formula 1 is certainly a fascinating world: for so many years it was my life and I've thoroughly enjoyed those years,” he says.

"It gave me emotions which could not be anymore intense and it has also taught me things that will enrich my life for a long time.

"That's why I'm thankful towards it."
