Michael Schumacher returned to the track exactly a month after his retirement on Wednesday, but has immediately ruled out ever making a return to racing in Formula 1.

Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport reports that the seven-time-world champion was testing a go-kart on a track in Lonato, near Brescia, Italy – the first time he has been seen back on a circuit since his final grand prix in Brazil on October 22.

Although still wearing his distinctive Ferrari-branded red helmet, the 37-year-old was in green overalls in a test that what was likely to have been useful preparation for a private 24-hour kart race at his own track in his hometown of Kerpen on 2-3 December.

However although his return to track action may have been swift, the German has already quashed any lingering speculation that he could one day make a racing comeback to the sport he dominated for over a decade.

“Formula 1 changes constantly,” he said in an interview with the German newspaper Suddeutsche Zeitung’s SV magazine.

“The technology, the engines, the rules, the circuits.

“Once you get out for F1, you’re out.”

An updated version of the retired legend’s official biography, entitled 'Schumacher', is launched in German language on Friday with the book set to give further details behind his decision to quit F1.
