Formula One fans in India can look forward to see seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher in their midst next year.

If everything works out well, Mumbai could well play host to seven-time Formula One world champion Michael Schumacher in mid-2007....

According to Western India Automobile Association, Schumacher if he would be paying a visit to India ,then he will deliver a talk on road safety some time next year

“Schumacher has been involved with road safety seminars for a long time and now that he has retired, he is giving it more time.”

"Schumacher, who has devoted himself to road safety post-retirement, accepted my invitation in Shanghai two months ago and said he would visit the city in mid-2007," Nitin Dossa, executive chairman of the Western India Automobile Association said.

Schumacher will come to Mumbai during the United Nations Road Safety Week which is held in May or June each year.

"We can get an exact date of his arrival once the dates for this (UN) week are announced," Dossa said.

However Schumacher’s spokeswoman, Sabine Kehm,did not confirm the visit.
“I cannot confirm. Nothing has been planned for Michael for 2007,” she said.

Schumacher, 38, retired at the end of this year's Formula One season finishing second in the Drivers' Championship racing for Ferrari.

So what ?? he is coming to give a talk on some road safety crap. He wont be driving and showing off his skills. so what ??

Honestly....the people who will go the road safety seminar will mostly be the ones who dont need it....the millions who need it will continue to kill themselves and other road users.

^ Agreed but even if one guy in thousand listens to what he says and changes - it would be job well done.

All we can do is give the info to the masses - acting or not acting on it is within their domain. Just can't help such individuals

@Dip --- agreed.... but the thing is ONE or even a 100 people wont make a difference.

Earlier, I used to tell people "The Ocean is made by many small drops"

But now, I dont believe that. We need majority of people to be civilised and have basic road sense.

And again, here also people missed my point. So what is Schumi is coming ?? I am a huuge fan. But he isnt coming here to drive or anything. Just to give a damn talk. BIG DEAL !!
