Michael Schumacher has dismissed suggestions that he could make a fully-fledged comeback as a motorbike racer - and insisted that his two-wheeled exploits are just for
fun.
The retired seven-time world champion is competing in a KTM Trophy race at Misano this weekend, having already taken part in amateur motorcycle races in Hungary and Spain in recent weeks.
Last winter he also set impressive times on MotoGP champion Casey Stoner's Ducati in a one-off test.
Schumacher said he was racing motorbikes for his own entertainment, and had no plans to mount a series bike racing campaign or to start chasing championships on two wheels.
"I basically have
fun riding bikes, though I don't have any ambition to go into a championship," he said.
"I race from time to time, and this is for the sheer enjoyment I get from competing."
He reiterated that his days of racing at the top level were behind him, and that he had neither the inclination nor the competitive edge to resume serious racing.
"I don't want to go back to what I retired from at the end of 2006, and I wouldn't be so presumptuous as to think I could still compete at that level - I don't want that at all," said Schumacher
"I simply want to try out racing on two wheels, and just as in Formula 1, I'll make sure I don't overdo it."
