Jokes apart, I still feel too much of hindi will only lead to lesser mass participation. Hence my argument.

Masky, i didn't want to but i have to most widely spoken in India - yes, but its not our national language. Hindi is just one of the many official languages. Hindi is our national language and an official one at that. English is official but to be phased out.
English was just a link language which was allowed the designation of that but even now there is always stress given on propagating Hindi. Ofcourse one can argue the point and refuse to acknowledge that, but according to the constitution of India: (1) The official language of the Union shall be Hindi in Devanagari script. The form of numerals to be used for the official purposes of the Union shall be the international form of Indian numerals. http://www.constitution.org/cons/india/p17343.html English is more like it. English is more widely spoken in India that Hindi, i guess. I dont have the statistics nor any interest proving it. Wrong By any stretch of imagination english cannot be most widely spoken in India. That would be Hindi or any regional language but not English. People in villages don't know english  on the net, yes that would be more like it
Anyway intention is not to fight damn it
We will be careful to use english but some usage of hindi sometimes is unavoidable. | | |

And Bluffy, You seem to have a certain typical North Indian mindset against South Indians. For you, all South Indians are madrasis.
I dont care honestly. I mean, it's you.
But dont post such stuff in public.
Where did you jump to the conclusion that I hate Hindi ?? I dont. I understand Hindi pretty well.
I am referring to the larger problem of people not participating because of it. Hindi may be a national language but honestly India is too big and too vast to expect all people irrespective of which region they hail from to know Hindi.
You cant expect whole regions speaking Tamil or Kannada for centuries shift to Hindi in a matter of 60 years.
Hindi has penetrated in the South only after independance. You cant expect people to know Hindi.

Seriously if we as Indians can't even agree on Hindi as national language then shame on us (my views. really i don't agree or even support english as national language, thats after i do everything in English and happened to be a merit ranker in English ) Countries like France, Germany, China take pride in their national languages. Its somehow an obsession with Indians to degrade anything Indian and promote everything western. I am not against English, i love it, its one of the reasons for India's progress, but i can't agree about Hindi not being a national language. The whole idea of official language is tied with National language(infact the person who suggested hindi as a official language in the constitution was a Tamilian. Times have changed but if people just reject each other on languages then god save this country.
