Are you a traveller?

I just love travelling. Partly by compulsion, due to my fathers profession, I have been travelling all over India and Nepal since i was young.

Been all over India mostly barring the east. I guess the north east of India has superb scenic spots and is a wonderful place to go. (Needless to say i love hill stations and esp those that have greenery around) Used to love Shimla when i was 7-8 but now Shimla is more like a Plastic bag - concrete city hardly a place to go.

So how about you guys, where have you been and what all places you liked share and do post some pictures also

dunno if i`m a traveller.. but i def love travelling....
as a kid have been to north india and some other places in and around maharashtra...
couldnt visit the north east cause that time when m ydad was transferred there i was in sjyc..... and in fjyc i had a gf..
current travels have been on my bike.. to lonavala and to err some fort around 170kms from here... darn forgot the name...

i would just love to travel on my bike.... esp to leh and other mountainous regions... that iz my dream... and to do something like world expedition on mah bike too.. lol

i'm not much of a traveller.. but i do like it whenever i travel. while i was in ghaziabad, i went around Nainital, Shimla, Delhi.. Rajasthan.. (havent seen Taj Mahal yet! )
have been to Munnar too. One of my favorite places! it is heaven on earth during the months of May end-June beginning!

seen mahabaleshwar and lonavala-khandala. mahabaleshwar is fine.. but there is absolutely NOTHING in lonavala! dunno.. why ppl love tht place!

i wanna explore the east India too!

been quite a bit in himachal, Pauri Garwhal. Used to be a trekking, mountaineering freak in college days. Had explored around 100 forts or so in my trekking days in Maharasthra.

You are going to luv this.... I worked in a Foreign Travel agency for 12 years and one of my jobs was to travel with Tourists as a Tour Courier....all in FIVE STAR hotels - all expenses paid .... I have been all over India EXCEPT the North East...

I have been from Kanya Kumari (SOUTH) to ARU in Kashmir (NORTH) - from Jaisalmer/Sam (WEST) to Kolkatta/Bhubaneshwar/Puri (EAST). I dont think I could remember names of all the places I have visited.

The places I liked most .... in random order...

Periyar (my most memorable sight ever has been dawn on the lake)
Jaisalmer
Udaipur
Kajiyar (HP)
Gulmurg
Sunrise at Nagarkot (Nepal)
Varanasi (sunrise boat ride on Ganges is a real holy experience)
Madurai
Kovalam
Ladakh

The single most beautiful place I visited would have to be the Maldive Islands.

The BEST hotels I stayed in - Umaid Bhawan Palace, Jodhpur and Lalitha Mahal Palace, Mysore.

The BEST food is at any ITC hotel - they really know how to make a good meal. The worst 5 star food has always been at any of the Taj Hotels.

The BEST view from a Hotel - Laxmi Vilas Palace, Udaipur and Fish Tail Lodge in Nepal where you have the Annapurna mountains right in front of you.

I hate whenever I'm in big hotels. I like either living with a host family or a small roof over my head. Just makes it easier for me to move around & cheaper too

I would LOVE to travel...but cant call myself a traveller.... I havent travelled too muc though (hope it changes once I become an adult )....

Have been to Kerala, Chennai (very long back ), Delhi(and the usual sight seeing and Agra also), Mumbai (when it was called Bombay and also visited Ajant and Ellora caves...but dont remember much of that trip as I was very small )..... Have also been to Pune once with my dad on a business trip....

Abroad, I have been to Bangkok twice (on one trip, we also went to Pattaya and the second time, we spent a few boring days in Phuket), Singapore (twice again ....), Nepal (only Kathmandu...also went on that Everest Flight.... they take you in a flight to Mt. Everest fly around the tallest peak in the world and return back.... that sure was beautiful but I didnt enjoy it much coz I was feeling really really sick !! )

Have also been to Hong Kong, Before it became part of China.

And during our second trip to Singapore we went on a cruise.... abt 3 days or so... That sure was one hell of an experience !!

My grandpa has travelled like crazy though..... he was the founding member of Indian Youth Hostel Federation and was president and Vice President of the International Youth Hostel movement and he has been just abt everywhere on the map..... By the time I am 80, if I could have visited half as many countries as he has, I will be very very happy.....

I knew I was missing out something !! EGYPT .... Went in 2002 June with my grandpa !!

Did everything a regular tourist does except for the fact that I was guiding my "guide" in 2 places (aswan and Cairo )

That guide in Aswan tried bullshitting us abt how mummies are made.... I stopped him mid sentence and told him the whole procedure.... how the body is first dried using Natron and then the body is dissected and all that..... Told him the whole procedure in one breath and he was stunned..... After that he took a break and walked outside and told us to enjoy the museum(where we were) and told us to call him if he had any doubts !!

In Cairo, the guide luckily didnt try to bullshit us.... Instead after the first one hour, he allowed me to talk and corrected me in case I went wrong somewhere (I am proud to say that it was very rare).

Also took the optional tour to Abu Simbel....

This trip was one of the best I have ever been on. And my grandpa was the best company I could have asked for.

The Luxor and Karnak temples were also damn good !!

I loooooove travelling

but hardly went outside karnataka but visited almost all places in knataka tho
