New research has shown that Men who have sex daily, especially with younger women, are more likely to live longer


The study, conducted by researchers at Germany’s Max Planck Institute, found that a man’s chances of dying early are cut by 20% if his bride is 15 to 17 years his junior, reports the Daily Telegraph.

The average life expectancy of a man is 77, but the last seven years are marked by serious illness or ailments for the majority of men.

However, experts say that sex rates highest among the simple and often bizarre ways to keep men healthy — including cutting down on pain killers, eating five apples a day, brushing teeth with your wrong hand and carrying wallets in the breast pocket.

The researchers also found that men with younger women - who look after the children and put food on the table — help extend their lives.

The study, which examined deaths between 1990 and 2005 for the entire population of Denmark, concluded that the higher life expectancy was either caused by younger women caring better for men or natural selection.

Meanwhile, a Canadian study suggested on Monday that sexual fulfilment has far less to do with technique and perfect bodies and more to do with such factors as presence, connection and erotic intimacy.

“Unfortunately, popular culture tells people that great sex is about varying your routines, trying new positions, buying new sex toys,” says Peggy Kleinplatz, lead author of the study.

Kleinplatz’s research has identified eight components that significantly contribute to great sex, including being present, in-sync, intimate and uninhibited.

Significantly and surprisingly, said Kleinplatz, the study found two areas in which participants placed extremely little importance: intense physical sensation and orgasm, and lust, desire, chemistry and attraction. “We now have empirical evidence that what most people think of as the major components are all but irrelevant”, she said.
