India vs England
Champions Trophy Main Stage Kick Off Match
Finally we start the main league competition of the champions trophy with the home team India taking on England. The sparks will fly, not just because diwali is near, but simply because both teams have a point to prove. England has been beaten comprehensively by India during the last series they faced against each other and England will be out to avenge that. Though still a depleted side with the likes of triscothic and Vauhgn missing, England would have learnt from the last time the came here and would try to avoid the mistakes they did of trying hit out to win.
India on the other hand, have their own problems. Poor showing in ODI's over the last few months has brought the euphoria about the invincible Indian team crashing down. The top order is woefully out of form and there is total confusion about the combinations thanks to the experimentation policy undertaken by the team management. Indian team however can take solace from the fact that they are playing at home under known conditions and also from the fact that they have always performed well in Champions trophy in the past.
It would be a cracker of a match either way and a great start to this carnival of cricket before the bigger carnival that is to begin next year.
