Because the material used to make the "indestructible black box" would be much much heavier. Moreover the thickness of the material should increase proportionately with the size of the aircraft i.e. you cant use the same thickness as the black box - a simple way to understand this is to try breaking a large stick of a certain diameter and then take a shorter stick of the same diameter and try the same. You'd be left with more "substance" than any hollow space in the plane, it would be huge, its weight would be a ton and it would take a lot of lift to take off .

Well they *might* have to shut down for a number of reasons - bankruptcy, state violence, etc etc .. so just in case!

Zero degrees in Fahrenheit or Celsius? The usual method is to convert it to a value on the reference Kelvin scale; then twice as cold would be half the reference Kelvin temperature.
If its 0 deg F -> 255.37 K (kelvin) . So twice as cold would be 255.37 / 2 = ~127.68K = -229.846 F
If its 0 deg C -> 273.15 K. So twice as cold would be 273.15/ 2 = ~ 136.57K = 213.844 F
