Airtel catches the iPhone Bus

If everyone had thought that Vodafone was going to be the lone conductor on the Apple's iPhone Bus in India then Airtel just suprised us by catching the same bus and becoming the second conductor...


Bharati Airtel today afternoon announced a tie-up with the US based Apple Inc to bring the GSM based iPhone to the country...
"Bharati Airtel has signed a deal with Apple to bring the iPhone to India later this year" Bharati Airtel said in a statement.

Airtel's announcement comes on close heels of the world's largest mobile phone operator Vodafone announcing last week to dstribute iPhone's in India by the year-end.

So this means Vodafone doesn’t have an exclusive deal for the iPhone in India and Airtel is planning another suprise around with the indication that the launch may be around the festive season of Diwali,which might mean a great Diwali gift to its over 65million subscribers.

If Airtel launches the Phone in Diwali ahead of Vodafone's release which is by the year-end then it would get the first movers advantage in the highly competitve Indian market.This would also might help in bringing down prices of the iPhone considerably -- with both telcos vying for a larger share of the Apple pie in India. And for customers, it may well mean good times lie ahead...

Arey untill n unless U use it u wont know how gr88 it is...
I do admit that its really over rated has many basic flaws like no msg forwardin and U cannot search the contacts... but there are other features that compensate for it ...Surf net on it..just awesome..plus U get a ipod too and the touch interface is just awesome..

But admit it doesnt justify the price tag..

Ipod..wots so gr8 about Ipod re? Even it is an overrated POS... I have an ipod 80 gb classic..it doesnt sound an better than my SE P990i.. In fact, i prefer my P990i for some reason.. Atleast, i dont need to carry two music players with me.. a 2gb card in my p990i is enuf for everyday commute..

So, i dont consider ipod feature of iphone as a gr8 addition.. Apart from tht, the only good thing about the iphone, probably, is its interface...but there are a lot of problems with the interface too...typing text messages with the touch buttons is a pain..i've witnessed it myself with a hacked iphone my friend got from the us..

Windows mobile phones in comparison let you do much more, even if the interface is not as flashy as tht of the iphone..but u'll instantly be at home with thewin mobile interface, cos most of the stuff is carried from the windows desktop interface..plus, there is seamless compatibility between the content on ur winmobile phone and ur windows desktop system..all files work just like they do in ur computer.. basically, ur win mobile phone is an extension of ur desktop tht u carry with you anywhere..

I agree with Mr. Private Ryan. There's no big deal 'bout the iPhone since there's no Video cam on it, but I've heard that with some software video recording is possible. I have used it for some days and realized that if some one is used to it, might like it(ESP. the touch function without Stylus). Stylus is far better. The cam is only 2MP with no flash, but they are using very good sensor, so the pictures are sharper. Only thing I liked 'bout iPhone is that the safari Browser. After all it's a STATUS SYMBOL, so we can't expect more.

Whoever Gets It... Let Em Bring to India... I am Considering to buy one....
