Its not really a new movie, but happened to watch it recently. An english movie set in a bengali backdrop. A story about a schizophrenia (Schizophrenia is a psychiatric diagnosis that describes a mental disorder characterized by impairments in the perception or expression of reality and by significant social or occupational dysfunction. A person experiencing schizophrenia is typically characterized as demonstrating disorganized thinking, and as experiencing delusions or hallucinations, in particular auditory hallucinations) patient and the lives of people around her.
Film starts with Meethi (Konkona Sen Sharma) searching for a place addressed 15 park avenue. She imagines herself living there with her 5 children and her husband. All this while she is very much accepted by her near ones. Her sister Anju (Shabana Azmi) do everything that can be done. She even sacrifices her growth path in her career. She tries to get Meethi involved in small household chores to keep her busy, only to be labeled wrongly by Meethi. We can sense the pain which a person goes through when despite all your attention u get discredited.
In a flashback, 11 years back, we see Jojo (Rahul Bose) committing himself to Meethi only to leave her alone when her mental condition gets triggered due a gang rape she suffers while on her professional assignment.
All the 4 leading cast have done justice to the role and excelled. For Aparna Sen, she once again shows the maturity level to deal with such a subject. Brilliant work all throughout. The best part in the end, which is left open for audience to decide.
The scenes in Bhutan and background score is a sure shot bonus. All in all a must watch for offbeat movie fans. ----------------------------------------------
