Default Basic Instinct 2 : Risk Addiction

Spoiler Alert : I absolutely and completely guarantee that this review has zero spoilers. More on that later.

Flashback

Flashback 1992. Basic Instinct, with then 34 year old Sharon Stone crossing her legs and immortalizing herself in the memory of every teenager, hits the screens. The movie which is best described as an extremely controversial fusion of erotica and drama, went on to gross over $100 million.

Fast Forward to 2000, and BI2 is announced to be released in 2002. Numerous delays, lawsuits and out of court settlements later, the movie finally hits the screens in 2006, with a now 48 year old Sharon Stone again playing novelist Catherine Tremell.

The Cast
  • Sharon Stone....Catherine Tramell
  • David Morrissey....Dr. Michael Glass
  • Charlotte Rampling....Dr. Milena Gardosh

Everybody else is unheard of, so I apologise for my lack of knowledge of british actors who cant act.

Storyline

The movie begins with Sharon Stone driving a beautiful Spyker C8 with a drugged footballer sitting in the passanger seat, the high point of the movie was the car, and everything else from here went downhill.

Well there is a crash, the car plunging into the river Thames. Sharon Stone is able to escape, but her co-passenger isnt as lucky. Tremell is investigated by the Scotland Yard, who are intrigued by her lack of remorse. Which is from where everything goes downhill.

My Take

Dont watch the movie for the thrills of the first one, this isnt as rivetting.

Dont watch the movie for a naked Sharon Stone, lets just say at 48, things aren't as ......ahem...... nice as they were at 34.

And her sexy attitude which worked brilliantly in the first film is missing, and everything seems plasticky and forced.

Dont watch the movie for the acting. To say that David Morrissey is not Micael Douglas would be the understatement of the year. He acts so bad, he would probably be rejected from an Ekta Kapoor serial (not that ive seen any of those).

Coming back to the first line of this review. The 0 spoilers bit. Me and 1 friend actually left the movie hall 1 hour 15 minutes into the movie, went to McDonalds, had a few burgers. Half an hour later met up with all the other guys outside the hall. Curious to know what I'd missed, my friends insisted that the burgers were the right decision.

This review has 0 spoilers coz I dont even know how the movie ends, I cant possibly spoil it for you.

P.S. If your a Sharon Stone fan and insist on watching the movie for all the naughty bits well here's a suggestion for you. Dont goto a movie hall in India, the scene's will be censored.

Rating : 3/10
