First of all before writing d review,I wud like to make one thing clear....This movie may not be everybody's cup of tea & not everyone's idea of entertainment...

STORY

Omkara is set in the brutual & abusive heartland of Uttar Pradesh.....where lives Omkara....a feared gangster & a henchman who works for a notorious politician Bhaisahab.....Omkara heads a gang of outlaws,which include his two favourites Langda Tyagi(who is an xpert in playin Gooti & also shooting ) and Kesu Firangi.....who are determined to do anything for him......

The movie begins with Saif Ali Khan pointing a gun towards bridegroom's convey & sitting with d bridegroom himself(Rajju)......& telling him to not to go to his wedding coz his marriage was fixed with Dolly Mishra(Omi's Love) & he tells him tat his chief Omkara has abducted Dolly.......& As a result d marriageis spoiled.....
[The scence in which Rajju(the Bridegroom) comes to the Pandal on his Luna to inform abt the incident is Hilarious.... ]
Then this issue is taken up by Dolly's Father to Bhaisahab....who is living a lavish life in a Jail(No Suprises)....He then calls up both Omi and Dolly ...& When Dolly confesses her love for Omi then Bhaisahab forces Dolly’s father to bless the two lovers.....Its after dis scene tat a superb dialogye is delivered by Dolly's Father to Omkara......

After this d real story begins .....when Omi appoints Kesu and not Langda as his chief lieutenant.....

When Omi's boss Bhaisaab decides to contest for the Parliamentary seat,then his State Assembly seat is offered to Omi......Omi after this decision has to appoint his successor.....But instead of giving Langda Tyagi the post,he appoints Kesu....[When u watch d movie note Saif's Experssions].....As a result Langda is filled with envy & jealousy....

This jealousy and envy causes Langda to plan plot to falsely implicate Omi's beautiful lover Dolly [Kareena Kapoor] in a love affair with Omi's "favorite lieutenant" Kesu(Who Loves Billo).....and to put his plan into work he takes help of He takes Rajju(Dolly's Old Bridegroom & still her Lover(1 way)...

The first agenda in his plan was to make Kesuy bad in Omkaras's eyes.....So he gets Kesu drunk,who initially was reluctant but after sum teasing,he gave in...Then cums d song Beedi Jalayi Le, in wich Billo makes everyone go crazy... and after this Langda gets Keshu involved in a brawl....Kesu’s behaviour angers Omkara....And after Omi isnt on taking terms with Keshu....So to clear the confusion between them ,Keshu seeks Langda's help...who inturn advices him to seek Dolly's help to sort out the issue...then Langda throws his well-planned lies at Omkara about a possible affair between Kesu and Dolly but Omi asks him for evidence.....after this many events follow and in one of d events Langda's Wife Indu plays a big role.....She steals a kamarbundh(which was transferred frm 1 genration to another) frm Dolly...given to her by Omkara.....And this kamarbundh lands in Langda's hands & he inturn tells Keshu to gift it to Billo....This cummerbandh then forms d basis of Langda's evidence to Omkara tat Dolly is unfaithful to him.....Durin an Omkara's assignment ,supposedly in Jail,Omi sees the same kamarbundh with Kesu’s mistress Billo(Who was performin dere).....& his worst fears r confirmed in his mind....After dis he confronts Dolly abt d kamarbundh...& destroys his own secure world....
In d end(During Suhagraat) he kills Dolly...as a revenge for her betrayal....But soon he finds out tat he was wrong...Meanwhile Langda,who thought he had killed Keshu after shooting him... reaches d house & he finds out tat his wicked plan was unveiled infront of everyone...Indu,his wife, confronts him and kills him for his doing...& she also commits suicide.....Keshu, who was shot by Langda only to be injuird, comes to d scene and seeing him Omi realises tat he killed beloved under d influnce of Jealously..& shoots himself......

Hence Jealousy & Envy lead to a Horrific Tragedy....

Overall,Another fanatastic adption of Shakespeare's work by Vishal Bhardwaj...But instead of Omkara it shud have been "Langda Tyagi"...Coz Saif steals d show....So go check out ‘Omkara’ soon......
& Mr Shakespeare you can rest in peace,coz ur works are in d safe hands of Mr.Vishal Bharadwaj.
