After many days i have seen a great movie..and i saw it today at a Special Show...So here's and Exclusive Review of it on

Rang De basanti has been touted as one of the big movies of 2006 and trust me it is. The movie captures the thinking of today's youth perfectly and portrays it in its characters flwalessly.
THe movie starts with Sue in london getting ready to go to India to shoot a documentry on the Indian freedom fighters and what the current generation thinks of them now, when she is told that due to budget cuts she wont be allowed to shoot her documentry. Sue who has been working for 2 years on this project and is inspired by the India history by reading abt the freedom figters in her grand fathers diary, who was a jailor in India in the freedomfigting struggle, quits her job and leaves for India to fulfill her dream.
She reaches India where she meets her friend Sonia who arranges everything for her. Sue meets up with Sonia's friends, Karan who is son of a rich father who works as a middleman in defense deals,DJ who is a university passout of 5 years ,Aslam student of the university living in chandni chowk of delhi,sukhi and sonia'a boyfriend Ajay who is a figher pilot. and Laxman who is added later to the group who works in a political party She begins to shoot her documentry with them as the central characters, taking them to various places and showing them old clips of the real freedom fighters.
Slowly as the group begins to learn the hardships the freedomfighters faced, they begin to grow respect for their country and the people who sacrificed their lives for the country.
Sue and DJ fall in love and Ajay proposes to Sonia, and everything is going great.
One day they get the news that Ajay who is a fighter pilot is killed in a Mig21 crash ( most of u would remeber that there was a big chaos over these Mig crashes sm time back). THe defense minister blames it on the pilot instead of the cheap and old parts used in the planes. Now DJ and friends decide to take things in their own hands and clear up the name of their friend.
The storyline of the movie is excellant and kudos to the writer for bringing up this issue of Mig crashes, corruption and political plots played within the parties. Each character is defined perfectly and even the small characters have been used to full extent.
Direction is great, no out of points shots, each characters has been used with clear thinking. Various monuments such as India gate and the Golden Temple have been shot beautifully.
Screenplay is just awsome, though Aamir Khan dosent perfectly speak punjabi, but he has made up for it with his expressions. Sharman Joshi plays the cute and funny kid of the group to perfection, with Kunal Kapoor playing the role of a muslim whose parents dont want him having any association with hindus flawlessly. Siddharth as the son of the rich father portrays the role of the guy spending money carelessly quite nicely also. Soha Ali khan, all i can say is she is like acting is in her blood, she dosent seem to be a newcomer at all and uses her body language and face expression ,literally making you beleive as if she is the character and she coulnt be diffrent. Alice patten also plays her role prefectly.
The music is by A.R.Rehman and is great as usual, with the music being used at the perfect points in the movie fitting the mood and tone of the situation.
The movie deals with various issues such as the love hate relationship between a rich father and son, a careless son and his working mother, a muslim family which still fears of hindus in the 21st century living in India, and of a group of friends who loose a friend and pledge to set thing right while showcassing how the circumstances are slowly becoming the same as they were before independence, only this time the rulers are the political leaders of the country.
The movie is AWESOME...although some of you may feel the ending to be a but exagerated, but i found it to be perfect. It is a movie which has humor, emotion and romance shot at perfect places. Infact there was a round of applause for the movie when it finished..
This is one movie No one should miss, and one should make your family also watch it.
I would give it 9.9/10 without second thoughts and am gonna watch it again...
