Synopsis
When Anita Rajan, CEO of an international firm, brings a power plant proposal to set up in rural Maharashtra, before the Nagres, the insightful Shankar is quick to realize its benefits. After convincing Sarkar, Shankar along with Anita goes to the villages to mobilize support of the masses. However, things are not what they seem to be. From shady fixers with an eye on multi-million kick-backs to wannnabes who are ready to incite millions of people against the highly controversial project, Shankar’s dream project gradually becomes a political minefield. Evil forces gang up to bring down the regime of Sarkar and obliterate Shankar’s name from the political horizon.
Story
After becoming a punching bag for one & all for his disastrous and tortuous Ram Gopal Varma Ki Aag,Ramu has come back strongly as a director with a gr88 sequel in ‘Sarkar Raj’ which is an outstanding film and an engrossing tale of political intrigue, deception and betrayal.
The film is set two years after the original film, Sarkar and starts off with a plot to kill Shankar(Abhishek Bachchan) by Hassan Qazi,Karunesh Kaanga(deputy CM) getting spoiled after the would-be assassin gets caught by Shankar.But the real conspirators ont get caught as the link to them is terminated and then they decide plot the real Chakravyuh for the Abhimanyu aka Shankar.And this Chakravyuh form's the whole plot of the movie.

Anita Rajan (Aishwarya Rai),CEO of a power company based in UK is planning to set up a power plant in the heart of Maharashtra.She is explained by Hazan Qazi that she cant setup a plant in Maharashtra without the permission of Sarkar.
And that brings Anita to the Sarkar household in Mumbai along with the Chiefminister of Maharshtra to discuss about the Power plant.When the plant proposal is explained to Sarkar (Amitabh Bachchan) by Anita,he rejects it outright because it would mean displacement of thousands of people from villages around Thackerwaadi and he even reprimands the Chiefminister for bringing the proposal.
But Shankar disagrees with his father on it as he is convinced that the project will bring benefits to the people of Maharashtra.And being Sarkar's son who has learnt to speak his mind,he convinces Sarkar for a go ahead for the Project for the benefit of the people of Maharashtra and finally convinces Sarkar who still has his doubts.
But they have to convince a third person who is a very important in Sarkar's Life,Rao saab(Dilip Prabhawalkar)Sarkar’s mentor and off they go to Thackerwaadi to seek his approval.Rao saab gives approval but in comes an opposition in the form of a firebrand social activist Sanjay Somji(Rajesh Shringarpure)who is grandson of Rao saab.
With Rao saab's approval for the project and determined to make the project a reality,Shankar begins organizing rallies to villages to convince the villagers where the project would be setup but it starts becoming political minefield with large opposition to the project.
In the meanwhile the evil forces start their work to bring down the Sarkar clan which now includes Gujarati businessman Kantilal Vora.Differences occur between Shankar and Sarkar's trustee Chander and then in a carblast aimed for Shankar results in the deadth of his wife(Tanisha) is the final nail in the coffin and Chander is removed.
Sanjay Somji,the main opposition is then kidnapped by Hazan Qazi and everyone points on Shankar but Chander proves his loyalty by finding Somji and he along with Shankar resuce Soumji & kill Hazan Qazi.This incident leads to hiring of a Sharp shooter to kill Shankar and he is eliminated.
This brings in Sarkar into the center-stage,who is keen to take revenge on all the people who hand played a hand in his son's killing.One by one he eliminates them.First Vora,then Kaanga and the real suprise Chander who explains how he was sidelined by Shankar and that lead to the betrayal.He even orders killing of Anita's father in UK and the Sharp shooter.
But all these were just small pieces in the big puzzle and then he unravels the Chakravyuh to Anita,which was made to eliminate to the Shankar and the entire Sarkar clan.
Chakravyuh was devised by Rao Saab,who is the main culprit. The Power plant plan was just a facilitator for his master plan that he had devised to make Soumji,the become the powerful leader of Maharshtra and replace Shankar and thereby marking the doom of the Sarkar clan.The preplanned plot had made Soumji close to Shankar and he was publicly declared by Shankar himself to have the same vision as Shankar had thus the sympathy and role would automatically be transferred to Soumji after Shankar's assassination.
After this when Rao saab comes to Sarkar household to mourn Shankars deadth he is shown Soumji's body(u got to see this) and finally results in his elimination and this completes Sarkar revenge.Anita is then based in the Sarkar household and starts looking after Shankars responsibilities.
Acting
SARKAR RAJ is just full of superb performances by all actors.Amitabh Bachchan,the true boss of the film,comes up with a terrific remarkably expressive performance in the final stages of the movie and sweeps you off your feet.And his son,Abhishek Bachchan doesnt fall anywhere behind,with the first half of ‘Sarkar Raj’ essentially belonging to him,by delivering a restrained and intense performance.Father and son share a great chemistry when in disagreement and in moments when the tender love between the father and son comes out.Aishwarya Rai Bachchan,though on the sidelines of the film,is great and equally complements the father-son duo.
Even the supporting actors are remarkable.Starting with Dilip Prabhawalkar(Rao Saab) is just superb and his grandson played by Rajesh Shringarpure leaves a strong impact.Then there is Govind Namdev[Hazan Qazi] and Sayaji Shinde[Kaanga] along with Ravi Kale[Chander] who are just perfect and their performances speak in the film.
Music
There is only one song in the movie 'Jalwa re' at the start which is just great.Background score of SARKAR RAJ is loud,bold and topnotch and goes with the pace of the movie.'Govinda' chant in the background only enhances the impact.
Direction
There are two things that will strike the most in the film.They are the Remarkable Acting and Ramu’s unique direction.
After RGV ki Aag,Ramu was described as a 'spentforce' but with SARKAR RAJ he has made a comes back with a vengeance to prove everyone wrong.He shines like never before and is at his best in SARKAR RAJ.He has handled the subject well and the feel of the film is filled with a sense of impending doom,which keeps the viewers on the edge.There are some scenes that are bound to leave a lasting impact especially the last 20-25 minutes which will leave U
Script
SARKAR RAJ's script has the soul in it.Work of the writer Prashant Pandey is incredible.The content is very strong and as the plot thickens it just leaves you awe-struck as the plot thickens.
Overall,SARKAR RAJ is a film that emotes lot of power from the start and is an exceptional film in all respects.Though it might be a bit slow at the start but by the end you are left awestruck.The raw-rustic look of the film is excellent and is a great sequel to SARKAR and it will be a BoxOffice success and has a chance to be a celluloid masterpiece...
I saw sarkar raj yesterday and liked it. Though some of my friends found it a bit too dark, i loved the way RGV has handled the script. Both Amitabh and Abhishek are at their best. I will be waiting for the next film in sarkar series
seems to be good movie i heard its awesome amitabh has acted well n abhi also though ash luks shit..(hate her) in da movie she has acted well too.......
