Default Doha Asian Games : The First week report

the 15th Asian Games opened with grand, gala opening ceremony in the city of Doha, Qatar.

Billed as the largest sporting extravaganza of Asia, it has lived upto the expectations of the viewers, spectators, volunteers, organizors, and sportspersons alike.

The competition has been stiff and exciting. But the rest of the countries have to learn a lot from the Chinese Juggernaut. The Chinese contingent has swept the games like a steam roller and is sitting first pretty with a huge margin over next competitior and arch rivals Japan.

As expected China Has dominated Table Tennis, Badminton, Snooker, Swimming, Gymnastics, Weighlifting, and almost all the other sports.

As China has put it, they have organised the system that this Asian Games is a stepping stone for the home Olympics in Beijing in 2008. Expect a flurry of thrashing and brilliant performances from chinese team in two years time.

There have been shadows of shock too in this mega event. The most tragic and shocking is the death of Korean Equastrian player Kim Hyung Chil, he sleeped off his horse and was crushed by the horse. He was a silver medalist from last Asian Games in Busan. The whole Games villages was shocked to hear this news.

The other notable news withdrawal of Star Japanese Hammer thrawer Koji Murofushi due to personal in injuries.

Then there was controversial withdrawal of Indian athlete seema Antil due to drug abuse.

But still the Games have provide much needed entertainment and will surely help Qatar to be projected as a sporting major venue.

Here is the latest medal tally, you can surely see the difference between China and other countries.
