Mr KPS Gill - "I am not going anywhere"

Yep Gill has come out with a statement that he has no plans to quit and will now only do so after reviving the Indian Hockey side. He has put the blame of the recent debacle squarely on the bad umpiring(which actually is true) and on the bad organization of the international body in organizing the hockey tourney.

India's beleaguered chief coach Mr Joaquim Carvalho may get another brief coaching tenure as the Indian Hockey Federation stated clearly today that his resignation will not be accepted. However, the IHF accepted vice-president Mr Narender Batra's resignation, who quit the day after India lost the match against Britain in Santiago.
Mr Carvalho had decided to step down in the wake of India's failure to qualify for the Olympics for the first time in 80 years but IHF chief Mr KPS Gill said it would be unfair to put the entire blame on the coach. “We have not received his resignation. So there is no question of accepting it."
Mr Gill also said the IHF may hire the services of a foreign coach to help the team prepare for the 2012 London Olympics. “My basic instinct is that we should rely on our own coaches in the process of rebuilding the team. But I think we may need the inputs of a foreign expert to help us develop,” he said.

Gill is going to go - this time the politicians are turning against him. That means the state associations will too. And then he'll be thrown out. Idiot.

Mani SHankar Aiyyar has already said that IHF is a independent body and the sports ministry has no control over it.
Gill is a vetran of the Punjab insurgency. You can rest assured he knows how to tackle politicians and the rest. About state associations, that might be a worry but then all of them(or most anyway) are die hard patrons of Gill anyway. Look what he did with teh VP of IHF, he offered to resign and he accepted that as that guy was known Gill hater
