hehe TT and badminton its pretty much worldstage olympic level at Asian Games...
no chance really, but does givr exposure and motivates others to try hard and atleast participate.

Daily report for India at Doha asian games : 2/12/06

Saturday was a mixed fortune day for India at Doha Asian Games. Though India managed two bronze medal at the end of the day, it fell short of expectations in many events. Any ways there is always tomorrow and hopes are still alive.

Here is the brief report :

Man`s Trap Qualification day 1:[/COLOR]
Manavjit singh sandhu is in top position.
Anwar sultan is in 11th position
Mansher singh has fared very badly and is in 20th position.

India could be in line for team bronze though.

Women`s 10m air rifle :
Avneet kaur sidhu stood at the 5th position and Tejasvini sawant stood at 8th position.
India secured the Team bronze medal.

Men`s 10m air rifle final:
India`s main hope Gagan Narang could not repeat the performance of world cup and stood at the 5th position in final.
but his exploits did help india to secure the bronze in team event.

Boxing
Jitender Kumar won his bout in fly weight(51 kg) category. India has hopes of medal from this bright young Indian.
Akhil Kumr won his bout in bantam (54 kg) category.'
manoj kumar won his bout in superlight weight (64 kg) category.

Chess:

Chess is the event where India can expect sure shot medals but the start in Mens rapid event is not bright. While Humpy in womens tournament has shown reall witt and gritt.

P. Harikrishna won 1 match and drew 2 matches
Krishnan Sasikiran drew all the 3 matches
Koneru Humpy won all three.

Kabbadi :
Indian has beaten bangladesh and Japan in round robin games.
To face pakistan in round robin on 4/12, Iran on 5/12.
finals on 6/12.
It seems the winner of India - Pakistan match will be the winner eventually.

India lost to Malaysia in sepaktekraw.

Swimming one indian was in fry and there is nothing to write home about.

Mauma Das has progressed to round of 32 in TT.

So an average performance in Chess, Below par performance in Shooting, good performance in Boxing, Kabbadi and rest to forget is the story in short of full first day of Doha Asian Gmes for India.

Samresh Jung, Deepak sharma, Ronak Pandit.

Men`s Trap event second round qualification and Finals will take place.

Man 50m rifle prone:
Surendra Singh Rathore, Sushil Ghalay, Imran Hasan Khan,

woman 10m air pistol:
Harmen srao,sonia rai, shweta chaudhry

Finals will be held in man trap, man 10m air pistol, woman 10m air pistol


Boxing
today jitender kumar and diwakar prasad will be in fry.

Chess:
In chess rapid tournament will be held for round 4/5/6.

beach volleyball
Men's Round 1 Match 6 PARWEES/QARQOOR-PRADEEP/POOTHATHAN 14:00 Sport City

Hockey india will play Qatar.

Judo anil kumar will be in action.

Rowing India will be in action in

Sepak tekraw mens team are pitted against myanmar and womens team will fight with thailand.

In swimming indian participants will be seen competing in
mens 100m butterfly and mens 200 m freestyle

In table tennis india will be seen in action in mixed doubles round of 32.

Volleyball india will be seen in action in preliminary match agains libya in mens
section.

We should win Kabaddi gold.

15th Asian Games Doha 2006

The Perera/Silva combo still have their match coming up - lets hope they fare better.

@Vince: At the moment, I guess all the teams are in. Initially just the fencing and sepaktakraw squads were pulled out, and they were later put back in. Of course there is that basketball team that dint show up on court "in time"

^ That is sad, hope you make us proud in the next Asian Games. You and Saiyan would make up for an awesome combo

eddy your cousin was in beachvolley ball while i mentioned volleyball.

but later six out of eight federations decided to fund their own cost and decided to continue.

thats why fencing, sepaktekraw and even soccer teams are playing. even swimming and shooting contingents were trimmed but the federations decided against.

sad to here that both the teams in mens beach volleyball lost.

btw quick news : koneru humpy leading the womens chess by half point with just the last round in progress so she is almost sure of a gold. wish her luck friends.
