India Win Asia Cup Hockey Finals

India displayed unheard of performance in recent years to thrash a hapless Korean team 7-2. In a display of stellar hockey that left everyone, including their worthy highly placed opponents South Korea, shocked and awed.

Indian team delivered 7 field goals including 3 goals in 1st half. Such was the performance and display of the Indian hockey team that inspite of poor umpiring and a walkout by the Koreans to pressurize the umpires, India never lost their cool and kept on banging the Korean goal post

I must say i always watched Indian hockey's main matches, including sometimes early mornings during world cup and olympics, this was a performance to cherish.

I guess you can also thank SRK Chak De couldn't have come at a better time for this sport....



President Congratulates Indian Hockey Team
President of India has sent her congratulations to the Indian Hockey team for the brilliant display that it showed throughout the Asia Cup.

It may be noted that this is the biggest ever margin by which India has defeated Korea in a final. India scored a total of 57 goals during the Asia cup.

Sadly none of the major news channels have updated their websites to highlight the Indian team win. They will but considering the prompt breaking news for cricket, our national game deserved a bit of respect, its not that we win everyday

Hmm, I watched the match after Safina told me India were 4-1. And i watched till the end when India finished the match with 7-1. I have to say our players did it with ease. Since this is first time I am watching Hockey, what i wanted to know was - what is India's ranking in Hockey? And What is Korea's? judging by the way korea was playing, it seemed as though they Korea is equal to Kenya in Cricket. If anyone can throw some light to this mortal it will be helpful

The rankings have been updated so they won't be a true indication.


Just take this, In Hockey World Cup 2006, India were 11th and Korea 4th

I saw the score and was stunned !! This is really awesome news.... that new coach is damn good !!

And it is not just this match...they have played superbly throughout the series.... Remember the 20-0 win against Sri Lanka ??

Cool. Now i will start following hockey. If only there was an English commentary, it would have been better

Lol I heard the IHL had introduced a new incentive scheme for the players, according to which they would earn Rs. 1000/-(INR not $$) for each goal they score, and lose Rs. 2000/- for each goal ceceded... Wonder how much money the team nade using this scheme

On a serious note i think India Played really well in this tournament, hope they repeat this performance against the europeon and australian teams
