Default Rossi wins Rally of Monza, hints at possible future in sport

Oh man !! Is this guy GOD or what !! Simply superb. I doubt even Schumi is as talented as this bloke.

MY respect and admiration for "the Doctor" just keeps on increasing !!

"Valentino Rossi is not only quick on two wheels. He's fast on four as well.

The seven-time motorcycling world champion won the Rally of Monza on Sunday — a two-day exhibition event held on the track of the Italian Formula One Grand Prix.

Driving a Ford Focus, the 27-year-old MotoGP racer won all seven stages of the 136.4-kilometer (85-mile) race in 1 hour, 11 minutes, 23.7 seconds — one second ahead of a field that included 1994 World Rally Champion Didier Auriol of France. Auriol finished 12th.

"I have to say that winning in rally gives the same emotion as in MotoGP," Rossi said. "The car was perfect and, above all, I didn't make any mistakes, which is what counts."

Rossi is a passionate rally enthusiast, calling the sport his second love after motorcycling. The Italian competed in the Rally of New Zealand in a privately owned Subaru earlier this month, finishing 10th — about 20 minutes behind winner Marcus Gronholm of Finland.

"The Doctor," as Rossi is known to motorcycling fans, also said that he would race in the Wales Rally GB next year.

"(Rally) could definitely be my future after MotoGP," Rossi said. "But Formula One is another possibility."

Rossi has tested with Formula One teams Ferrari and Mercedes, also clocking fast times.

But for now, Rossi, who is contracted with MotoGP team Yamaha for next season, is bent on reclaiming his MotoGP crown.

"From Monday, we will be in Jerez, testing tires and two chassis for the new bike," Rossi said, referring to the Spanish MotoGP Grand Prix circuit. "Next year, the field of competitors, starting with (Nicky) Hayden, is made entirely of much younger pilots and I will have to do my best not to be forced into retirement by them."

Rossi, who has also won world titles in the 500cc, 250cc and 125cc categories, was denied his fifth successive MotoGP title this year by Hayden."
