KTM Super Duke now in India - Overdrive
"First of big bikes manufacturers appoints dealer. Expect a flurry of bike makers to follow suit."
We will soon see KTMs roaming our roads. The Dakar champion will however not make an official foray into India. It has on the contrary decided to test waters by opening up a dealership here. Torque Motorcycles in Mumbai would be the company’s official dealer. The 990 Super Duke which uses a 990cc twin cylinder engine pumping out 120PS of max power and a torque of 100Nm, has already been sent for homologation. Torque Motorcycles owner Sumesh Menon is hopeful that if all goes well there would be more models that would be homologated for the Indian market in the near future including the company’s flagship model the 990 Adventure. The 990 Super Duke meanwhile is essentially a sports/road bike rather than an off-roader, which KTM is better known for. Menon feels that this is the right time for foreign manufacturers to come into India as the economy is booming and KTM would do well to cash in on this boom. He along with his team of technicians has already undergone training in Austria at KTM’s factory on running the dealership as well as servicing KTM motorcycles.
