China put up one last spectacular display of colours, fireworks and absolutely breathtaking performance as the world bid adieu to the Beijing Olympics, 2008 The Chinese spent a record $43 billion on the Games, and it showed.

The closing ceremony was excellent........... Leaving aside the issue of arbitrary drug testing and a particular instance of bias, (shooting episode), the Chinese put on a sporting event to be envied...............

With all the problems besetting the Palestinians, they should be congratulated for even fielding an athlete, regardless of how well they were able to do....
