Koneru Humpy wins the womens rapid chess gold medal at doha Asian Games.



As she was billed for the top glory koneru humpy was right on target and won the first gold medal on offer in the chess at the 15th Asian Games at Doha.

Her male counterparts though could not repeat the same performance and could not win medal.

^ Yep, the tally iirc is -

1 Gold, 3 silvers and 2 Bronze.

Quick News : Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore won individual bronze and helped India to secure Team Silver medal in Mens double trap event.

but unfortunately he could not stop the all conquering chinese from securing Gold and silver in individual event. The person who is in ranking ahead of Rathore went medla less and these chinese took revenge of Ghongzou world cup.

Any way atleast few people delievere what they were thought to be.

BTW another news both the players in Billiards Singles are in semifinal and in different one so we can win a bronze or a silve and a gold. lets see what happenes. Best of luck.

PS : Quick update both pankaj Advani and Ashok Shandilya have won their semifinal matches and India is secured of a double haul in billiards.

pankaj advani won the gold medal and ashok shandilya won the silver medal in mens singles english billiards.

India is leading against thailand in womens team tennis 1-0, sania miraz is leading in second match 1-0.

The Indian story so far at Doha:

Well Jaspal Rana has won Gold medal in mens 25 m standard pistol and also secured the Team Silver.

Right now we have following tally :

Gold 4 silver 8 bronze 8

The duo of sethi and Advani lost to Myanmar team in Doubles Billiards semi finals so we lost a sure gold.

The chess team is expected to earn a medal in Team classical event.

The Rowing team did excellent performance and snatched 3 medals where no one was expecting them to win. ( we have bright future here if the players are taken care of well)

In hockey as usual the hopes are going down in drain. we are in third position right now and a match with Oman and Korea each is remaining. As Oman is a minnow we are sure to win, but if we can Beat Korea then we have chance of India - Pakistan semifinal. Otherwise one more forgettable tournament.

Right now India is sitting at the sixth position.

Athletics is making its appearance from today and India are expected to do good in track and field.
