With PWC forecasting 6/7 medals for India, our contingent has to be considered a brave contingent.
Definite medal hopes are in Shooting, a little bit in Tennins / archery and boxing.
Today Tennis draws were announced where india has mixed bag of fortune.
In Men`s doubles section our main hope the paes and bhupathi combination have received a little favourable draw. With history favouring paes giving his best when playing for India we can hope for the best .
In womens section there is nothing to take home as Sania Mirza is slated to bump in to elder Williams in second round if she clears first one
so lets make the balls rolling. ---------------------------------------------- |

In shooting too i hope Samresh jung(The goldfinger ) does well, his mentor Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore has been off colour recently, but i hope he does better than what he did in Athens A gold and a silver in douple trap shooting is what i am hoping for
6/7 medals are too much, i will be happy if they cross beyond 3 medals.
As far as Weightlifting is concerned, I hope they clear their dope tests atleast |

Last time she was under tremendous pressure and she cracked. This time there is no pressure at all on her and she might well put her best yet. She is also shooting tomorrow.
Btw, a pic of the Indian contingent |

A games participant since 1900, India still ranks behind Nigeria, a country with an economy one-twentieth India’s size, in total medals.
But we can take heart from the fact that there are other countries that are not so ahead of us till now. |

Apart from the two double trap shooters, the only other hope for a medal in shooting is Abhinav Bindra. |

BEIJING: A slipshod India cut a sorry figure in the Beijing Olympics opening ceremony with the female members of the contingent making it a veritable go-as-you-like with their contrasting outfits that made them look completely misfit for the occasion.
With Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore carrying the tri-colour, the contingent looked good from far, as the male members decked out in off-white sherwanis. But as they came closer, things looked hardly impressive. The tennis duo of Sania Mirza and Sunitha Rao, attired in black trousers and practice jackets, looked completely out of sorts and the contrast was even more jarring to the eyes as going side by side was Delhi paddler, Neha Aggarwal who chose a greenish saree for the occasion.
Though the generous crowd at the Bird's Nest stadium roared to greet the Indians, it was a shoddy fashion statement by the Indians.
The moment they entered the Congress president Sonia Gandhi was on her feet and waved at them and the athletes also reciprocated. Indiatimes

We need to remember even we had a choice of doing well in sports, we didn't.
Accept the fact, the ones playing are the best. You aren't. | | |
